Stan Lee cancels upcoming appearances due to "a very serious circumstance"

http://comicbook.com/blog/2012/09/22...g-appearances/

Comicbook.com just received word that Stan Lee is canceling his scheduled appearance at the Ohio Comic Con for next weekend. Even more concerning is that the message sent out by the Wizard World promoters of the event indicate that they “were informed by Stan Lee’s management that Stan would be unable to attend any upcoming appearances for the near future.”

Stan Lee was also scheduled to appear at the Authors! Authors! series at Toledo-Lucas County Public Library on September 27, and his appearance at that event has been canceled as well. According to the Toledo Blade, a library spokesperson said that Stan Lee’s agent said the cancellation was for “a very serious circumstance.”
That doesn't sound good.

Uh-oh. I was planning on going to Nuke The Fridge in November because he was supposed to be there. I hope it's not too serious and he's okay.

Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo says Stan is A-Ok.

It sucks Stan had to cancel, but you know the man doesn't just do conventions. he puts in a hard days work creating. Its really sad that the Toledo Blade had to go spread nonsense. If you want to be up to date on stan then follow us, cuz he kinda owns our company. Its sad that a some blogs are scaring fans. not really nice.

I saw him at Heroes Con this past June. I was also planning to go to the Wizard Con in New Orleans in December. He's still listed as a gust at that one; but he no longer appears on the Wizard Con for Austin in late October.

Following the sudden cancellation of two appearances this week in Ohio and talk of “a very serious circumstance,” many fans began to express concern about the health of legendary creator Stan Lee. But this afternoon the 89-year-old writer released a statement to announce he’s recuperating after having a pacemaker implanted.

“Attention, Troops! This is a dispatch sent from your beloved Generalissimo, directly from the center of Hollywood’s combat zone!” Lee wrote on the POW! Entertainment website. “Now hear this! Your leader hath not deserted thee! In an effort to be more like my fellow Avenger, Tony Stark, I have had an electronic pace-maker placed near my heart to insure that I’ll be able to lead thee for another 90 years. But fear thee not, my valiant warriors. I am in constant touch with our commanders in the field and victory shall soon be ours. Now I must end this dispatch and join my troops, for an army without a leader is like a day without a cameo!”

Lee, who turns 90 in December, of course ended the statement with “Excelsior!”

Best wishes to Stan the Man. I met him a few years ago and he seemed genuinely friendly and of course passionate about comics.

Damn, I love that man. One of my heroes and one of the few living legends.
