Picked up a few volumes of Runaways from Amazon, thinking i'd give that a read before getting around to watching the show. And grabbed the X-Men Mutant Genesis Epic Collection.

D’oh, it was above a quote in his post, so I missed it.

The Comixology-shared ones will say "Kindle & Comixology" in the format box. If they're not shared, they'll say "Kindle" only. E.g., this one (as of Sunday night, 1/28):

^ Yep, I’m also OCD about it and, after an Amazon kindle purchase, always check the comixology page to make sure it transferred there as well. Usually takes just a second or two to transfer. A couple times I’ve bought a kindle only book by mistake, but it’s easy to get a refund.

I’m not sure if a kindle only purchase will automatically transfer over when they ‘fix’ books later to make them comixology compliant.

Darn. Almost missed the Amazon sale but I stumble into here and out goes $50.

That one, and some others, are finally cross compliant. I wasn’t going to check again, but your link made it too easy. I’m blaming you for this morning’s purchases, David.

Keep an eye out because some of the Marvel trades (especially masterworks and epic collections) overlap with one another. For example the Nick Fury masterworks are included in previously released S.H.I.E.L.D. by Lee & Kirby: The Complete Collection. I wish Marvel and Comixology made it easier to cross reference single issues for being included in multiple trades; only the [Android] app seems to do that.

Oh wow, cool. The android app tracks that? That’s been on my wishlist of features for years. That and more story arc lists.

In my dream world, if one owned all the singles, comixology would automatically give you the trade(s) collecting them, and vice versa. I can’t count the number of times I’ve had to cross reference and make lists to see if I owned everything in a run.

In the Android app if you click on a trade it shows a clickable list of all included titles, if you click one of the included titles (or just open details of any single issue) it'll show you all the trades the issue is included in. So for example it'll display that Captain Marvel #33 is included in Thanos v Avengers, Captain Marvel Masterworks 12, Drax, Captain Marvel Complete, and Avengers Masterwors 3 trades (while the Comixology website only shows whichever one of these). It takes a few taps to compare but is relatively easy. It's not 100% because some trades don't list individual contents (but most do).

It would be ideal if you could just claim a digital trade if you owned all the singles or visa versa, usually it's the same content.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Now Comixology is offering 10% discounts (15% on Marvel titles) on many titles for Comixology Unlimited members ($5.99/month). This discount does stack with sales. Ten percent discount publishers include Image, Dynamite, IDW, Boom, Zenescope, Action Lab, and Seven Seas (obvious omissions are DC and Valiant).

https://www.newsarama.com/38446-comi...ers-books.html

You'd have to spend $40 per month on 15% discounted titles to break even or $60 if discount is only $10 so probably not worth joining for the discount alone unless it's a big sale month. Sales must be made through Comixology so those who use discounted iTunes credit in publisher apps may already be getting an equivalent/better deal. Better still just waiting for 80% off Marvel sales on Amazon.

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

Just coming here to post that, but nice synopsis undeadcow.

I’d be tempted if DC was included, but pretty much get 5-15% discounts anyway. Minimum 5% buying thru the DCBS site, then at least a 10% discount on iTunes cards for the publisher apps.

And yes, I don’t think I’ll buy a Marvel book outside those kindle sales again.

Digital or physical. Don't get me wrong, I love sales, I just have no idea why I'd spend five bucks on a Marvel floppy ever again. I've been struggling to make DCBS orders lately.

Speaking of 80% off Amazon Marvel sales, it looks like prices have gone back up to the standard 50% off for now.

Wonder when DC is going to do the Marvel Unlimited thing? I know they were testing out something with Amazon, but I have not gotten any updates since last year.

Comixology added another Dynamite bundle for $9.99, 'TV Horror' with Ash Vs Army of Darkness, some Vampirella crossovers, Dark Shadows, Grimm, Re-animator, etc.:

Seems like Marvel has stopped offering freebies on Comixology; previously there were about 4 issues that rotated out every few weeks but nothing for a while now.

Trevor 02-16-18 04:13 PM

Re: Digital Comic Book Discussion and Deals (Comixology, etc)

I’ve been noticing the end of that freebie rotation as well. It’s possible they’ve moved them to their marvel site only, as I found a couple new-to-me freebies there recently.

Ta-Nehisi Coates Black Panther Vol. 1 free and vols. 2-3 99 cents on Amazon.

Crap, I just bought them a few weeks ago. But they were only $1.80 each so it’s not a huge loss.
