The Hedge Knight

I recently let my friend borrow my copy of Hedge Knight since he just got into GoT and read all 5 books. I went to buy a copy of the 2nd, which I never picked up and it looks like the first has become pretty valuable on the 2nd hand market. Is what I'm seeing correct? Even on Amazon it's selling for $75+ used from the marketplace.

Re: The Hedge Knight

Are you looking for the comic, that can be had for much cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Sworn-Sword-He...5810379&sr=1-2

If you just mean the book, the second story in the series can be had here for under $8:

http://www.amazon.com/Legends-II-Dra...5810298&sr=8-2

Edit* I see I misread what you are asking. Maybe I should put my copy of the first up for sale too.

Re: The Hedge Knight

No, I have the one pictured. I noticed that it seems to be in demand when I went to buy the 2nd installment, which is still selling for cheap on Amazon. I'm trying to confirm if what I saw about the value of the 1st is correct. I was going to tell my friend to keep it but that won't be the case if they really sell for as much as I'm seeing. It'll stay in my collection.

Re: The Hedge Knight

Yeah, like I said, I misread your post initially so sorry bout that. I like my comics, but would sell if they are really getting that much.

I still can't find any information on whether they are going to adapt the third one or not.

Is this some sort of Batman prequel?

Re: The Hedge Knight

I wouldn't put too much stock on the Amazon Marketplace prices, as soon as Amazon stops offering something or it goes out of print, prices go out the door. That being said, it does look like it's out of print and anything related to GoT is going to be hot right now. I don't see any indication that they've lost the publishing rights, but even the other editions of this are basically out of print at Amazon...

Re: The Hedge Knight

I had some extra copies of the Hedge Knight TPB, the black covered one with Dunk holding a sword. I had bought them at 0.19 cents each before the series started figuring that I would give some as presents (which I did).

Anyway, I owed someone some money, gave him the rest of my Trades (4 or 5), he put them up on ebay over the last 7-8 months and they all went at auction for $26-$41 each. Most sellers have them higher BIN, but I wanted to make sure these sold. Most sellers also have had the black covered one, so buyers may be more familiar with that version, but the HC should get at least in the above price range, if you're interested in trying to sell it.

Re: The Hedge Knight

Why would anything Game of Thrones related go out of print at a time like this? With the tv show going on and doing so well why would they not be capitalizing on that?

Re: The Hedge Knight

I think this book went out of print around or before Feast was released back in 05. No way to know the level of success the show would bring to the series. I'm just glad the 2nd comic is still in print. I want to read it but wouldn't have paid a premium for it. $12.99 works for me.

Re: The Hedge Knight

Ah. Then it was good timing on me remembering it and buying a copy. It should arrive any day now.

I don't know how it all works so forgive me if it isn't this simple, but why wouldn't they put it back in print now while the property is so hot?

Re: The Hedge Knight

Devils Due got into some financial trouble. My guess is that is part of why it's out of print, and there might be some contract issues that prevent someone else from picking it up.

Re: The Hedge Knight

Dynamite published the adaptation for "A Game of Thrones" so maybe they have exclusive rights right now?

Re: The Hedge Knight

It may be that Dunk & Egg and AGOT are considered separate licenses, with Dynamite having AGOT, but with the Dunk & Egg stories being held up with all of the problems from the Dabel Bros & Devil's Due. I haven't heard anything about the 3rd Dunk & Egg story being collected either, so that seems to support the possibility of a problem. If everything was fine, then I would think that someone would try to capitalize on these stories. But I don't know for sure.
