People were discovering the covers melted if left in a hot car. So he decided to microwave one, sell it on eBay and give the money to charity.

It doesn't have to make sense, he's British,

Yeah it doesn't make much sense. If he was giving the money to charity wouldn't he want to get as much money as possible? A microwaved comic in 0.5 condition isn't going to get as much money as a 9.5 condition comic.

The day after that comic came out, it was selling for upwards of $50 on ebay. Some even went for over $100. This microwaved copy went for $17.50.

All of the "Why did he ..." questions have already been answered by Valeyard. It's Rich Johnston. He does that sort of thing.

Maybe Rich will start microwaving lost Doctor Who episodes.

Here's a Youtube video of me microwaving the only known copy of "Power of the Daleks" episode one. It was recently recovered in Africa, and there are no copies. Will this destroy it? I have no idea, but I'll put it up on eBay and you can find out if you're the highest bidder.

He should get a copy of Action Comics #1 (1939) and microwave it. There's an estimated one hundred copies left in existence in the entire world, but this would be the one and only copy that has been microwaved!

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

WTF is up with the B&W variant cover of Batman #24?

TFAW shows the retail price as $74.99.

Surely that's a misplaced period, and the actual retail price is $7.49.

It's a 1:100 variant. Does TFAW never gouge variant covers or something? That sounds like something a normal comic store would do for a variant incentive cover.

Marvel just upped the price on Infinity #6 from $4.99 to $5.99. Boo-urns!

TFAW has the retail price listed at $74.99. They offer a 20% discount on preorders so their price is $59.99.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

Retailer Brian Hibbs offers some hard (and surprising) numbers for "Villains Month."

http://www.savagecritic.com/retailin...illains-month/

Well, the previous “normal” issue of BATMAN (#23), ICv2 reports 128,230 copies ordered for the four “Batman” issues of VM? ICv2 reports:

Joker: 107,680

Riddler: 107,413

Bane: 95,298

Penguin: 89,850

So, therefore, DC expected to sell no more than 85% of Batman on JOKER, and 70% on Penguin…. despite giving it the same series code (the mechanism that triggers Point-Of-Sale system to pull subscription preorders) — and that’s WITH the 3d covers!

JUSTICE LEAGUE #23: 104k (I’m going to round from here on, look to those links in previous paragraph for “real” numbers)

Darkseid: 78k

Secret Society: 44k

Lobo: 36k

Dial E: 26k

Those last two are insane, as the 2D VERSION HAS HIGHER ORDERS FILLED — 39k on Lobo, and 34k on Dial E. DIAL H #15 (the August issue) was 11k.
Click the link above for the full analysis.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

Just when you thought there weren't enough Batman books, DC announces another ongoing Batman book. It is called Batman: Eternal, and it will launch in January. It will be a weekly series that will last one year next year to celebrate Batman's 75th anniversary.

Also Detective Comics (Vol 2) #27 comes out in January. It will be 104 pages to celebrate Batman's first appearance from Vol 1 #27. I can't wait to see the price tag on that monster...

At this point, the Batman books (sans Batwing) are all I'm still buying from the New 52 (along with All Star Western - I wish I could quit you!). No way I'm going to buy a weekly Batman comic though.

I'm going to guess $9.99. Detective Comics #19 was 80 pages and came to $7.99. The more recent Green Lantern #20 was also $7.99 but I'm not sure how many pages it actually turned out to be.

Re: DC UNIVERSE Reboots in September, Same Day Digital Linewide

Scott Snyder confirms Stephanie Brown will be making her first New 52 appearance in Batman Eternal #3!

"We know that they're characters that you guys have been really vocal about," Snyder replied. "Your guys' love of Stephanie Brown have been so inspiring to us. We're really proud to announce that she'll be coming back in [new weekly series 'Batman: Eternal'], in a big way. Dan DiDio is in the audience to yell at us for telling you that."

"No one was trying to shelve her," Snyder continued. "It was more about finding the right time to reintroduce her."

Snyder said that Tynion came up with the idea to reintroduce her, and suggested it'll be as Spoiler. Tynion said Stephanie Brown will be in issue #3.

Now if only they would bring back the "real" Tim Drake and not this "fake" Witness Protection Tim Drake...

Hopefully, Stephanie Brown fans will not be let down by the "New 52 Stephanie Brown."

You know I have to say this. Normally I absolutely despise reading the super duper awesome amazing mega event mini series that Marvel and DC come up with. But I am really enjoying Forever Evil so far.

Also glad to hear that Stephanie Brown is coming back. But I'm shocked she's coming back before Cassandra Cain is.

Cass is probably gone for good. Shiva has been de-aged to early 20s in the New 52, so she's way too young to have a teenage daughter. She's about the same age as Dick. If DC does bring Cass back, they would have to heavily retcon her because there's no way she can be Shiva's daughter anymore.

So the solicits say Detective #27 is 96 pages. Not 104. It ends up being $7.99.

Finally read the first seven issues of Justice league. Is one of Wonder Woman's powers the ability to morph her tiara or something?
