At 83, he's probably really feeling his age. Maybe the resurgence in Covid changed his mind.

Re: Comic Conventions
Comic Con Los Angeles has already started selling tickets for December. I've gone the last 2 years. Guests booked so far are light and not so great. I have to imagine the strikes are impacting it
https://comicconla.com/guests?catego...ainment+guests Biggest name is Matt Smith. There's also Sean Astin, Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan and Rainn Wilson. I would not go if this was the only group. I do hope they get more and the strikes are mercifully over by then. |
Re: Comic Conventions
I watched Adam The Woo's 2023 Dragon Con videos and they had a ton of guests. Some were charging around $120 for photo op. Also, people were waiting in line for over four hours to go into the vendor room. That's ridiculous.

Re: Comic Conventions
I suckered myself into SDCC tickets this morning.
It's getting ridiculous now. $79/day now. I'm willing to bet 2025 tickets will be $99 and that is when I will skip 4 day badges and settling for 1 day, maybe a Saturday. When it costs nearly $500 just to get in before spending any money, fuck that shit. Especially when the shows have been meh lately. May as well just do outside experiences for free  |
Re: Comic Conventions
Are there any outside experiences at New York Comic Con? Thinking about going next year.

Re: Comic Conventions
Planet Comic-con out here put out their guest list for March and looks like a Scream reunion: Skeet Ulrich, Jamie Kennedy, Matthew Lillard and Neve Campbell. Sons of Anarchy/Pacific Rim reunion: Ron Perlman, Charlie Hunnam

Looks like a Boy Meets World reunion as well: Danielle Fishel, Will Freidle, and Ryder Strong.
Hopefully they will pull some people away from the Scream peeps. |
Re: Comic Conventions
Adrienne Barbeau was added to Planet Comiccon.

Re: Comic Conventions
After some hesitation, I decided to book a ticket for Comic Con LA on Saturday. They had a BF discount for a Saturday ticket (the busiest day), so I paid $50 for it.
It will be my 3rd straight year going. Since I will probably never be able to go to SDCC. I pre-purchased 3 autographs (mentioned in the Autographs thread) Virginia Gardner, Grace Caroline Currey and Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Matt Smith is the big guest, but even though he's on House of the Dragon and I like it. I'm not enough of a fan of his to spend the kind of money they are charging ($100) There is going to be some panels including an Ahsoka panel and I will probably do a little X-Mas shopping as well. Might as well make it a fun full day. |

Never watched the show so didn't include it. Guess I should've.
Hopefully they will pull some people away from the Scream peeps. In comparison, I went to Texas Frightmare Weekend in 2022 and their lines were over 3 hours long. So I'm glad I waited. |
Re: Comic Conventions
LA Comic Con was really fun today. Got to meet the gorgeous young ladies from Fall. Grace Caroline Curry and Virginia Gardner. Both were super sweet and lovely to talk to. If you’ve never seen Fall, Grace is also Mary Marvel from Shazam!

Re: Comic Conventions
Most of my haul from LA Comic Con this past weekend. Got a few gifts for my sister and niece as well.

Re: Comic Conventions
Planet Comic-con is shaping up to be pretty good. While she's not the star, she's a great co-star. They just added Sofia Boutella. I'll have her sign my 4k cover of Atomic Blonde.

Re: Comic Conventions
Wow. That is a nice lineup. I could drop a lot of money at that con.

Re: Comic Conventions
Planet Comiccon just announced a Happy Days reunion. Henry Winkler, Donny Most and Anson Williams appearing. Too bad Erin had passed away a few years ago.
They had previously announced Ian McDiarmid (General Palpatine) |
Re: Comic Conventions
Henry Winkler! Another Scream cast member!

Re: Comic Conventions
I was thinking about hitting Transformers Con LA in March to meet Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, but it’s not happening.
The Con was only doing preorders for their autographs and they are both sold out. The tickets went on sale January 1 and I don’t check their site regularly. Bummer. And they were only being sold to people who bought the weekend pass for 2 days. https://www.tfconla.com/tickets I guess this Con is just too small to make tickets for their autographs and photos open to everyone. And Welker is 77 and Cullen is 82. Two old guys signing and posing for pictures for hours all weekend would have been brutal for them. |
Re: Comic Conventions
Planet Comic-con has added a new autograph section called Nostalgia Alley and the first announcement is voice actress Katie Leigh. Also there is a Land of the Lost reunion. The "kids" Wesley Eure and Kathy Coleman. Add to them legend Sid Krofft. Can't wait for more Nostalgia announcements.
They also posted for those unable to attend, they're partnering with Galaxycon Virtual for "mail in" autograph services for select guests. For details and pricing, check https://galaxycon.com/pages/galaxyco..._q-UAn-MKtNqbU |
Re: Comic Conventions
Appreciate that opportunities exist for fans that want to get signatures. I'm thankful that the working actors get paid good money to do these things, generally well after their peak earning days are behind them. But I can't personally fathom paying the type of money that is now being asked for autographs. Maybe it's because when I was young (~30 years ago) most comic writers and artists were easy to talk to and interact with at conventions and any non-major actors/celebrities there would generally talk with you for a bit and had fairly nominal prices for autographs. I don't know how any kid these days could afford even going to the shows, let alone getting a few autographs to take home. A bit of a shame that Conventions have become relatively inaccessible to the people who (at least in the past) had enjoyed them most.

Re: Comic Conventions
I've heard most mid-level actors get something like $10,000-12,000 for a decent-sized convention with that price going up for bigger stars. Not bad work for a couple days.
