Future DC Omnibuses?

Anything in the works? Wish they would do Superman and Batman, both from the 1960s. Don't do volumes but go by years. World's Finest could go 2 yrs worth per Omnibus while the yearly ones could cover Superman and Action Comics along seperately with Batman and Detective Comics. If they start from the very beginning its going to take for ever(Chronicles will take decades to complete).

Re: Future DC Omnibuses?

New Teen Titans Omnibus is coming in August of next year.

The first 16 issues of the groundbreaking 1980s NEW TEEN TITANS is now collected in a handsome omnibus edition.

In 1980, writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Perez introduced a timeless team including Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Cyborg, Changeling, Raven and Starfire – young heroes with great powers and strong personalities who learned their way in the world through the strength of their friendship and the adventures they shared. Don’t miss the first appearances of some of the team’s biggest foes including Deathstroke and Trigon, as well as a confrontation with the Justice League of America and Doom Patrol foes The Brotherhood of Evil.

Geoff John's Flash is being released in Omnibus format as well (March).

Yes-got the Green Lantern Omnibus. Very satisfied with the overall content, spine, etc. The paper quality is the same as Batman Annuals Vol. 2. They aren't as thick as the Marvel Omnibuses but the same as the length's the width's are concerned.

These three have been confirmed in DC's recent retailer's email. Presumably the Kirby and Ditko Omnibus books will be similar to the Fourth World and Creeper collections, while New Teen Titans looks more like the Green Lantern or Starman.

Additionally, there's an Amazon listing for a second Legion of Super-Heroes Deluxe book that looks like a followup to The Great Darkness Saga:

http://www.amazon.com/Legion-Super-H...2655777&sr=1-1

The product description appears to be referring to The Choice, the most recent collection of Levitz' new Legion work. The Curse is the title of the story from Legion Annual 3, which was originally reprinted in the first Great Darkness Saga trades. It's listed at 544 pages for September.

Four books, three that are explicitly called Omnibus, but have different price points, and one that is an Omnibus in all but name. Not too bad.

Yes. They are on newsprint but are so awesome that it's a worthwhile addition to your library. They're simply beautiful. Pick up OMAC as well.

There's never any harm in trying from the library first, but I bought these because the stories and art are so good. You can argue about the paper, but for years there were available only piecemeal and in black and white.

Re: Future DC Omnibuses?

They are releasing "Preacher" hardcovers, but they're kind of cheap-looking. They are standard-sized, not Absolute-size or even the size of the Y The Last Man hardcovers, and, while I haven't looked inside of them because they're shrink-wrapped, the paper quality doesn't look to be very impressive, either.

Maybe they'll end up Absoluting Preacher once these hardcovers are finished.

Re: Future DC Omnibuses?

From Bleedingcool.com:

We’ve seen a lovely stack of Marvel trade paperbacks and hardcovers lined up for 2012.But what about DC?

Well, there’s a big hardcover 300 page collection of Warren Ellis’ Stormwatch for January for $40, with a 336 page hardcover of early WildC.A.T.S. for $10. Sounds like a mistake there.

There’s a 500 page hardcover of the DC Universe Stories Of Alan Moore for $50 in February, including Killing Joke and Whatever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow.
Looks like DC might be shifting some of their TPBs over to high-priced hardcovers.

The DC Universe Stories of Alan Moore TPB ($20) has been out of print for a while now, and I think the Ellis Stormwatch TPBs have been going out of print, too. Though a $40 hardcover of that material is a significant savings of the price of the five TPBs, the Alan Moore on is kind of an ass-rape.

I've also noticed that the Alan Moore Swamp Thing TPBs are slipping out of print now that the hardcovers are coming out.

Why? Because it was available cheaper in other formats? On a page by page basis, the Alan Moore one seems to be a better deal price-wise.

Is Authority still in print (I know the Absolute is not) or is this Stormwatch one a precursor to an Authority HC reprinting?

I also wonder if they went ahead and reached out to Dark Horse or whomever to be able to reprint Stormwatch/Aliens, as that crossover issue was actually very important in the transition of Stormwatch...

I did bite on this, and now the discounted price is $45.88 (instead of $31.49 minus $1.57 GB discount)
