What is your favorite comic strip?

In light of Bloom County coming out with it's own complete works collection. I figured a poll would be good for favorite comic strips. My favorite is Calvin And Hobbes with Bloom County and The Far Side right behind. I am sure i left out many (Forgot to add in FoxTrot and Get Fuzzy)so if not included, post away

There were stretches where I liked Bloom County better, but on the whole I'd have to go with Calvin & Hobbes.

Re: What is your favorite comic strip?

I was thinking of investing some time exploring Dilbert. I remember initially i was turned off by the simplistic art and i couldn't relate to the humor. But this was back in the early 90's when i was in high school and college. Now that i've been living the cubicle life for a few years now, i am willing to give it another shot. Thinking of maybe getting a collection of it. Can any readers recommend the Dilbert strip? Is it downright funny? Good/bad/peak years. I know it's a very popular strip.

Oddly enough, I just bought a Calvin and Hobbes book last night on a whim at Barnes and Noble. That would be my pick.

I cheated and picked two...The Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes. I couldn't decide between the two.

I can't believe Marmaduke wasn't a choice lol.... Anyways I haven't looked at an actual comic strip in quite some time but I always used to enjoy Garfield and Peanuts.

All time favorite would have to be Calvin and Hobbes, but my current favorite strip that is still active is Get Fuzzy. I still need to get the complete collection books of Calvin and Hobbes.

I voted for Peanuts, but I could have easily gone for Calvin and Hobbes or The Far Side (though isn't that a comic panel?). Ten years ago it might have been Dilbert. Also enjoy For Better or For Worse, and even Arlo and Janis and Luann sometimes.

Urgh....Arlo and Janis. That's another one i forgot to add. Great strip.

Garfield was my favorite in the early 80's when i was about 10. But didn't Jim Davis somewhere down the line sold out. I don't even think he draws his own strip anymore. He has a staff to do it. Calvin and Hobbes took over at some point.

My favorite of all time is Calvin and Hobbes. Followed by Get fuzzy and C&H's spiritual succuessor Zits. (Does anyone else think that Jeremy is Calvin as a teenager?)

That character is nowhere near intelligent enough to be a "spiritual successor."

Re: What is your favorite comic strip?

Probably should have separate polls for past and present.

Past is definitely Calvin and Hobbes for me. Although Peanuts and The Far Side are right up there, along with a couple other contenders.

For current strips, Pearls Before Swine is my favorite, with Sherman's Lagoon a close second. Get Fuzzy was great for awhile, but it got mediocre a couple years ago.
