I've gotten rid of so many other trades, just to focus on the Omnis and the Absolutes. It's cool that you can stick with it. I juggle a few hobbies. I have a sort of catch all closet that has custom shelving. Holds toys, books, DVDs. As soon as I get my wide angle lens back from my dad I will get a pic.

I am jealous of Ivelostr's huge collection of Mighty Muggs. I have 16 of them. 14 of those I got at Ross on clearance.

Love all the pics! Makes me want to give some organization to my stacks. I organized my bookcases nicely by publisher then by character, but ran out of room and haven't maintained the system.

Those immediately jumped out at me since I used to check those out from the library repeatedly. A couple years ago I found the Batman at a used-book store on vacation.

My uncle (my mom's brother) had both of them, plus a Buck Rogers collection. I used to borrow them from him constantly. He (or maybe my parents) only let me borrow one at a time -- I think they knew I'd keep them all forever if I could. So I'd return one and then borrow the next, and just keep them rotating.

Sadly, my uncle died pretty young -- I was probably about twelve or so -- and there was a falling out between his widow and my folks, so I lost touch with that part of the family. My copies of the books are ones I picked up on eBay, not my uncle's.

I wonder if that's the same oversized Buck Rogers I used to read. I was pretty pleased to get the first volume of the new Peanuts-styled reprint series and find it had the same run of strips as that old book.

That makes me think of my own nieces and how they'll read my Uncle Scrooge and Archie when they come over. My sister doesn't read comics but she did read some of the old Harvey stuff, so they borrowed my copy of the Dark Horse Richie Rich for a few months. That's now OOP but on another vacation (see a theme here?) I found an LCS that had two copies of that volume. I could sell them online for a pretty penny (I bought them at cover price) but I gave one to my sister because the kids liked it so much.

I'm in OK health, but have been under a lot of stress for a while, and some time spent with a friend who has terminal cancer is making this story hit a little too close to home for me.

It's this one:

I want to pick up the new chronological reprint, but I also want to pick up Flash Gordon, and Prince Valiant, and I'm still working my way through Terry and the Pirates, and Lil' Abner, and ... well, as you can see, I buy too many books so I'm way behind on my reading.

Yikes. Didn't mean to be such a downer. After dealing with too many deaths of people I care about (we've all dealt with too many deaths of people we care about because one is too many), I've developed the philosophy of "none of us knows how long we're going to get, so make the most of the time you do get." From what you said about your nieces, it sounds like that's what you do.

I read the same one! That book is falling apart I read it so much (I still have my original). The new Hermes book is the same strips--at least the beginning since I admit I haven't gotten through the whole thing. I have the same time issues. I did read a chunk of Terry and the Pirates (new to me) when I was sick but haven't gotten back to that either.

Most definitely.
