Getting rid of comics, sans eBay
I have around 8 long boxes of comics I'm looking to ditch. The last time I was in this situation, I parceled them up on eBay and sold them. Unfortunately, eBay has taken an unpleasant turn in recent years, so I won't be using eBay except to sell off a couple full runs.
My local comic shops mostly aren't interested in buying.
I'm running an ad on Craigslist, but that usually goes nowhere.
Anybody know of any other options? I'm thinking about just donating them to charity and taking a deduction, but I'm not sure of the details on how that works (documentation, valuation, etc).
Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Can't help, but I'm in the same boat. It may be months or years before I dig those ~8 long boxes out of the various closets or storage sites, but I do need to get rid of them someday.
Maybe a nephew will take up the hobby....

I'm working on getting rid of almost all my comics (over 2,000). I've just came up with a list on my website and post it on any comic trade forums I can find, I get a little luck on it. If there's anything else you collect like DVDs, Video Games you might be able to do some trading for those with your comics.
Donating them can be tricky on getting rid of them. You'll need to get a receipt from the place. They may not take any violent ones, only the cartoon ones.
You could try bundling them and sell them at a garage sale. I'm going to be trying this next year.

You could run an ad in your local paper or as another poster suggested try a yard sale. Every time I put a box of comics out at my yard sales they always get gone. Be prepared to let them go CHEAP! You may also want to try a flea market. Good luck!
