Free Comic Book Day May 3rd at your local comic book shop.

I searched and didn't see a thread about it. Remember tomorrow (May 3rd) is free comic book day.

Find your local comic book shop!

No shop real convenient to me, might try to order some online.

Anyone know of online retailers with good FCBD items? I tried TFAW, sold out. Found some at xworld.

The main FCBD website has an email reminder system, but perhaps it gets purged every year, or changes servers or owners.

I think I'll just put a yearly event in my calendar to remind me a couple weeks prior to it.

Marvel's Best-Selling Authors Sampler
Marvel's Greatest Collections Sampler
Hellyboy 2: The Golden Army

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight #7
Owly And Friends
Superman (08 #1)
Iron Man and HULK and Spiderman
Project Superheroes: Issue 0
The Incredible Hulk/Iron Man

In total, I got 35 Free Issues. The highlight for me was getting free copies of some of the Buffy the Vampire: Season Eight series. That was an awesome find.

I also purchased Batman: The Dark Knight Returns today for $15. I look forward to reading it (I have yet to experience Frank Miller's vision of Batman). Should be awesome.

This was an awesome haul for Free Comic Book Day this year. To top it off I saw Iron Man for the second time (I caught it Thursday night as well). I also plan on watching some more comic book movies tomorrow in celebration. Tonight I am working on a Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon.

I went to my LCS, and there was probably 50 plus people lined up before he even opened! Basically, for the first 50 people he was giving out 8 free comics, and after that, 3. I got my 8, plus a free Iron Man HeroClix, as well as my weekly books (and I also picked up the Previews Exclusive Blue Wolverine). From there I headed to another comic shop in the area, and got another 5 free comics (and purchased two Star Trek figures). Over-all, a pretty big day!

I went down to Oxford Comics in Atlanta, and they had boxes and boxes of the freebies, they even gave away Cable 1 (the new revamp with Olivetti doing the art) because somehow they accidentally order 500 extra copies. Doh! Usually, Oxford will just leave the freebie comics on the floor for people to pick up for a few months, so if you didn't get by there on Saturday, you can still feast on the free comics.

My LCBS had a pretty big turn out due to a "Kids day" festival across the street. My LCBS had a "First five free, fifty cents each after" rule. It amazed me how many people bitched about it. They don't realize that it's not free for the store and five free brand new comics is pretty damn good. I figured they probably don't collect or they'd realize that.

I'm still kicking myself for not taking advantage of my shop's FCBD sale. I went in intending to buy

or

both of which were in stock and 25% off.

But I decided to be frugal and save a few buck. I forgot about my economic stimulus money!

I've always wondered about that. How much does a store pay for those "free" issues?

my understanding is that it's like 20-40 cents an issue. I could be wrong, but I believe that's the number i heard.

Limit of 6 at my LCS which was kind of a bummer but I understand where they're coming from.

Worlds of Aspen
All-Star Superman
Broken Trinity Prelude
X-Men (Carey/Land)
Dan Dare
EC Sampler

I flipped through a couple and was kind of wishing I had picked up the Gyro Gearloose on the kids' table.

They were also offering 20% all trades so I picked up a couple. Probably would have been cheaper online but wanted to support the cause.
