I'd probably buy those comics today if a competent comic book writer and artist got a hold of them. Someone like Kurt Busiek could do wonders for Supreme, though I understand his health issues these days probably preclude taking on more work.

The revamp of his Prophet was apparently amazing. Still in my mountainous queue, although I did read the first issue and loved it enough to get the rest.

Prophet was awesome, a complete departure from the earlier character (though with tie ins) and more of a sci fi tale. Glory was also a very different take on the character. But I don't think either are in the portfolio Liefeld kept.

Screenplay pdfs? Did he send out the actual signed screenplays as well?

I mean I give him props for giving out refunds and still updating the project, but if you look at the kickstarter project it's been all promises and nothing Brigade-related delivered at all. Like it's continually promises of "off to the printers" or "just need to get this colored" or "just need this one thing" for years and years and years. I can understand how backers can be upset, regardless of how many signed grab bags of comics or pouches he delivered.

Btw going to the topic title I thought ErikLarson was generally really awful and I think he took it over Amazing after Todd left.
I saw a blurb saying that he is returning to the flagship title soon and maybe already has.

^ It's a one-shot. Spider-Man: Going Big. It's part of Marvel's 80th Anniversary line of one-shots. They have a virtual who's who of people coming back throughout the year.

We already got that What If? when Alan Moore took over Rob Liefeld's Awesome Comics and was writing Supreme, Youngblood, Judgment Day, and Glory simultaneously.

I bought an issue and thought it had nice art and coloring, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe it's better as one long read as a trade.

So the moral of the story is that Liefeld comics COULD be good when Liefeld isn't doing them. I buy that. Someone once said that there are no bad characters just bad stories written for them.

Re: Rob Liefeld (or Sal Buscema?!?!?!?!) - Worst comic book artist ever?

To be honest, both Supreme and Prophet (and even Glory) could've been done without those characters. Prophet is basically a sci fi epic that loosely ties into the character, and Supreme is basically Alan Moore going wild on a Superman character (which is what Supreme is).

Jim Lee found this out a long time ago with Stormwatch leading into the Authority (and he gave pretty much free reign to creators on reinventing WildC.A.T.S., and even the current incarnation of Wildstorm by Ellis.

Also it was mentioned before but Cable and Deadpool were basically popularized by writers post Liefeld.

Well, Cable was an immediate hit when Liefeld created him but Deadpool became popular when Joe Kelly took over the character. I remember that New Mutants #98 was in dollar bins until the early 2000's when Deadpool had built a cult following thanks to his regular series.

The Twitter account of the company who owns Youngblood and other Liefeld creations sounds like a broken bot

Yeh some of his responses back to Liefeld are hysterical.

That’s interesting.

This has got to be along the lines of Disney/Marvel getting back the rights to Deadpool movies, and Disney trying to screw him out of royalties. That's the only thing that's changed.

Hmm... I stand corrected, this is on the comic book side.

Watching Chris Claremont’s X-Men on Amazon Prime (good ... watch it if you haven’t) which reminded me Paul Smith ssuuuckks. He paved the damn way for Rob Liefeld ....

Why?
I thought he was an alright artist - not near the best or anything, but far from the worst, and certainly far better than anything approaching Liefeld.

Yeah, I don't get it, if anything Paul Smith was really underrated. I don't remember any anatomy problems and his faces were pretty expressive.
