...You know what? I realize I sound too negative. I'm just tired of having to sift through so many bad stories to get to the good ones. I would really like to see less comics on the shelf and better storytelling.

What really surprises me is how many good comics there are these days that are "mainstream". I started reading comics in the 90s, and most of the really good books had virtually no readership. The "big" titles like X-men, Batman, Superman, and Spider-man felt tired and repetitive. But now there's Astonishing X-men, hell, both Superman core books are great and All-Star Superman is fantastic reading, and Paul Dini and Grant Morrison are on the core Batman books. If you had told me 10 years ago that Dini and Morrison were going to be guiding the Bat-universe, I would have scoffed at the Idea. It really is a good time to be reading comics, and i'm glad to see so many properties that I totally gave up on before become rejuvenated.
