Mad's Greatest Artists: The Completely Mad Don Martin

This totally passed under my radar. Time to collect my pennies.

Yeah, I have seen this advertised in recent Mad Magazines. Looks awesome. Would be nice next to my Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side collections.

Didn't Don Martin defect to Cracked years ago after Mad pissed him off?

This set is on sale at barnesandnoble.com for $22.48, retailed for $150. I picked this up and another insanely cheap HC graphic novel that was on sale to get free shipping. Already received a shipping notice, and it looks like it is still in stock.

Re: Mad's Greatest Artists: The Completely Mad Don Martin

I ordered this from barnesandnoble.com a few weeks ago it's about 15 pounds and is great I'm about 150 pages into it. There is some $3.99 graphic novels on B&N also I only remember Batman Year 100 TPB, Spider-Man Reign and Spider-Man a brand new day both HC.

If you're a fan order this now before it goes out of stock, totally worth it.

Re: Mad's Greatest Artists: The Completely Mad Don Martin

The only problem with this collection is that it only contains every Don Martin story printed in Mad Magazine. All of his books(Don Martin Steps Outs, Sails Ahead, Grinds Ahead, etc. etc.) are not in, as well as the years he worked at Cracked. Hopefully one day there will be another collection.

I did have a lot of those non-MAD books, but this collection still looks worth picking up at this price. Also got Supreme Powers 2 for 5.99. Ultimate Iron Man and Defenders Indefensible were others available that I considered.

Y'know, I'm about to walk by a B&N after dinner...

Except then I'd have to lug it to the theater.

Cool. I just ordered it online for $25.50 shipped. It looks like I got the last one from that store. But there are other places selling it for ~$30.

I have an original Don Martin artwork: a pornographic sketch that he didn't sign. Should I keep it with the book?

The cartoon is in an envelope in a filing cabinet. The paper is cheap and it's not acid-free.

But I like the idea of my heirs selling off my book collection, and some buyer getting an Easter egg.

That's not bad. I had to spend $32. The online dealer who had it for $25 sent me an email saying that their copy was damaged and unsellable.

It came yesterday. It's full of cartoons that I still remember from my childhood. Good stuff.

I know I'm a grown man, and should not worry at this point what other people think of the things I own, but this book is a bit of a split issue to me...it's so beautiful I want to show it off but everyone I know laughs at me for owning it. LOL.

Seriously? OK, I'm giving it another shot even though my hopes will probably be dashed again

on the free shipping even though the total wasn't $25.

Re: Mad's Greatest Artists: The Completely Mad Don Martin

Whoa, wish I had seen this earlier. I also had my order canceled around Christmas. Then I think it was $30, so getting it for $18 makes it worth the wait.
