I think that cover is allegorical, not literal.

I mean the last issue we got 355 going "PEACE OUT! SEE YA!"

Regarding the cover...

Spoiler:
I sincerely hope that this isn't going to be one of those "it was all in his head" kind of endings. I could see people rioting in the streets if that were to happen.

That would be way too cheap for BKV.

I highly doubt that would be the case. BKV is great at writing cliffhangers and creating misdirection in his stories. This has to be the case. I can't imagine the uproar it would be if this all turned out to be a dream or something.

Regardless, that's a great image. I wonder if they'll make a poster of it.

I stopped reading this series because I was always behind enough to just get the trades. But now I sure wish I was caught up.

I don't like the talk of Shia LeBoeuf being in the movie.

I broke down and bought the last 4 singles but haven't read them yet. It will be a sad day when the final issue comes out.

The final issue is out this week! I started rereading the entire series this week, I'm up to number 12 right now.

Newsarama is doing a series of interviews this week on the title.

I have to say that the ending really surprised me. I have been reading this series from the very start and have been disappointed with the last year or so, but when
Spoiler:
Ampersand died
I couldn't help but shed a tear. This book ended just as it should have and, IMO, cements itself as one of the best comic series ever. Truly a heartbreaking and inspiring issue - it's only January and we may already have a contender for Best Comic of the Year.

i thought it was a great ending to the book, i have been anxious about how it would end, but the way it unraveled was excellent. I started with the trades in Sept, and boy am I glad i did...

Had I known last issue
Spoiler:
would of been the last issue "in the present"
I would've paid better attention.

Can anybody refresh how that ended?

As to this issue: amazing. One of the best single issue I've read in a looooong time.

Spoiler:
Yorick has his final confrontation with Alter, where she reveals her own theory about what caused the plague - that the US was trying to neutralize the emerging threat of China, and it went disastrously wrong. However, she has really simply been yearning for death at Yorick's hand. He recognizes this, and instead of killing her just turns her over to her comrades. He is then found by Natalya, Beth, and Hero, who find out about 355's fate.

I would kill for Absolute Editions, but I think The Sandman is the only Vertigo book that they've done that for.

I don't doubt that Y would get that sort of treatment also.

It's unlikely, given that previous Vertigo series, such as Preacher, weren't collected even in hardcover.

I'm going to have to pick up back issues of this title - I stopped reading comics for about 5 years. I picked up the last issue to just have when I purchase lots off of ebay.

I look on ebay now and these sets are next to incredibly exspensive.

I may have to jump at the Trades.
