I think the Doctor Doom starts about 190, with Sue moving to Hollywood but getting abducted. #200 is the "big" special with Von Doom Jr. on the cover having all four powers.

Just to let you guys know, things from another world ( www.tfaw.com ) had a few omnibuses ( omnibi ? ) on sale in their "nick-and-dent" section. I picked up the Amazing Spiderman Omnibus for 49.99, the Daredevil omnibus for 49.99 and the Silver Surfer Omnibus for 37.50. It is killing me, but you rarely see deals on these anywhere...

I don;t care, because I'm just gonna read them, and put them on my shelf to be read again later, but i know some people would be upset with their condition, so i figured i would toss out a heads up... |
I want an X-Statix omnibus. I've already got the X-Force hardcover, so I don't need that included, but I wouldn't mind.

This was back in the era (1976-78) where Reed lost his powers (177), they fight the Frightful Four with the Brute (Reed Richards from Counter-Earth) as a new member (177-83) and team up with Annihilus, deal with Salem's Seven and Klaw and the Molecule Man (184-188), the team breaks up (191) and has solo adventures for a couple of issues (192-197), Reed gets his powers back (thanks to Doom!) and Reed vows that this would be the team's last fight with Doom. That was a great time for the FF - I'm hoping some of those issues see the light of day in a trade paperback at least. I know some of the issues are in the Perez Visionaries, but because some other artists (Sal Buscema and Keith Pollard) came in, the story lines are incomplete. |
Since I have little self-control, I picked up the new Punisher Omni (broke my back doing so - the thing is heavy), actually, ordered online at almost half off retail. Anyhoo, even though I have half the books collected here, I'm glad I got this, even simple art like Dillon's looks better blown up with remastered colors. If you even remotely like either Garth Ennis or the Punisher and you haven't read his Punisher run, I highly recommend this book.

I would look forward to an Avengers Omnibus - there were enough Masterworks volumes that came out so we could easily have this put together. I'd also like to see a Defenders Omnibus, but that's so remote that I could live with a TPB collection instead.

i had considered getting the punisher omnibus but considering i already have all of the oversized hardcovers, i wasn't sure it was worth the upgrade, considering i read a couple of the trades after the HC's and wasn't too impressed.

Don't know if you guys have heard yet, but someone on the Masterworks board did an "Amazon fish" and there's a listing for a Brubaker Daredevil Omnibus.

Though I have to say re: Defenders, I really loved the series until the later stages of Essentials 3. I had stopped reading the book by then so it wasn't nostalgic, and the "new" stuff didn't really grab me. But still, it'd be great to have those in color.

Am I missing something with the pricing of the Secret Wars Omnibus it's $100 and only has 500 pages; while Captain America is $75 and has almost 750 pages? Didn't know if there was any real reason to this or Marvel just throws whatever price on their stuff they want.
Also Wolverine is listed now on DCBS has about 1,000 pages. With these Omnibuses I'm spending less than I use to on comics in a month and getting more issues. I try not to ever spend more than $2 for a comic, that was my cut off point. |

Expensive March for me. That's ok. I can live with just ordering 3 floppies I think on top of these.
