Yeah, no shit. I would like to read this, but he only has two trades out or something. Which is just crazy considering how Marvel collects EVERYTHING.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to reread the old Black Panther/Jungle Action series from the '70s. No idea if it still holds up but I liked it. The Kirby/Panther stuff was wild but I eventually got into it.

EDIT: Wouldn't need an omnibus; TPB would be fine.

TOMB OF DRACULA would be my first choice, also.

Anyone else excited about the Amazing Fantasy Omnibus?

Amazon has a good pre-order price on both versions. Comes out Sept 5.
($47.24 ...37% off)

I haven't ordered yet but I think I am going to have to do that this weekend.
But the question is, which cover...I'm probably more likely to go with the classic one I guess.

Thanks again to calhoun07 for pointing this one out!

I'm five issues away from the end of "Amazing Fantasy", and I'm enjoying it for the fun it was meant to be.

Some artist focused Omnibuses I'd like to see:

- Alan Davis' run on Excalibur (taking out most of the fill-in issues would work)
- Todd McFarlane's run on Amazing Spider-Man
- Jim Lee's run on X-Men
- the Millar/Hitch 25-issue run on The Ultimates
- Art Adams' entire Marvel output (which is about 30 issues of mini-series or stand-alone stuff)

and the DC collection I'd most like to see is
- Alan Moore's 45-issue run on Swamp Thing.

The only thing though is that since his run was almost 140 issues, they'd need at least 3 omnibus volumes to collect the whole thing. And of course, they'd have to throw in Future Imperfect and The End, since they were by David, also.
I'd buy this. And yes he had some great artists on this run McFarlane, Gary Frank, The Pitt guy. I was really upset when he left the book.

All this cool stuff mentioned in this thread and what are we getting next month? Howard the Duck Omnibus...

Oh well, I'm digging the new Daredevil Companion Omnibus - Born Again is as great as it ever was.

Does anyone know what else is coming down the pipes?

I'm assuming the 2nd volume of the Claremont/Byrne Xmen is on deck.

slop101...

The bulk of that second Uncanny X-Men Omnibus' artist would be Dave Cockrum, as Byrne's stint on the book ended with issue 143. I've actually got those Byrne issues in two different TPBs (Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past), but it'd be nice to add another Omnibus to my collection. Speaking of Omnibuses, here's what I'd like to see:

Avengers (1963 on)
Thor (1963 on)
Hulk (1962 on)
Marvel Team-Up
Marvel Two-In-One (one of my favorite team up books)
Uncanny X-men (1963 on)

I used to subscribe to both these series in my youth and liked how they introduced me to different characters. Picked up the Essentials but would like a color version as well.

Don't knock it until you try it. Gerber's writing on Howard the Duck was some of the most sophisticated, thoughtful, nuanced stuff done in the 70s. I already have the Essential and I'm going to double-dip and pick up the Omnibus.

Looks like there's gonna be another Daredevil Omnibus this June.

This time it's the Bendis/Maleev run, which I'm actually not too big a fan of - though I only read a handful of their issues. Clocking in at almost 40 issues, this should be one of the biggest Omnibuses yet.

June's also bringing The Hulk Omnibus, collecting Hulk #1-6, Tales to Astonish #59-101, and Incredible Hulk #102.

There's a good deal of Marvel Omnis coming down the pike:

As mentioned above, there's Tomb of Dracula, coming out around October.

Also in October, there's The X-Men Omnibus - the original team by Lee & Kirby.

Speaking of Lee & Kirby, The Incredible Hulk Omnibus just came out in time for the movie - at almost 800 pages, this one's literally Hulk-sized.

In August, there's the Daredevil by Bendis Omnibus, which will also be huge.

A little after that, Marvel wraps up their Frank Miller Omnibus trilogy with Elektra by Frank Miller.

Then in time for Christmas, we get Punsher by Garth Ennis, collecting almost 50 issues and at 1,192 pages, is the biggest Omnibus yet.

Has the Howard The Duck Omnibus been released yet or has it been delayed?

The one Omnibus that I am dying to have, but which I'm sure will not be released despite its popularity, is a GROO Omnibus.

Good to see that Savage Sword of Conan has been released by Dark Horse albeit in an "Essentials" format (i.e. newsprint paper)

Marvel doesn't own this anymore, so we won't see a lavish omnibus any time soon. I think Dark Horse has been doing the Groo comics for some time now, and if they did do an omnibus it would be cheap paper, probably "essentials" type. Better to snag back issues on the cheap on Ebay, if that were the case.

I think Groo is creator owned, which is why it went from Epic (Marvel) to Image (briefly) to Dark Horse. I wish Evanier and Aragones would allow some kind of omnibus, I don't really care who publishes it. They have some trades out, but they're very small, like 4 or 5 issues at a time.

Speaking of Groo, I also wish Evanier and Aragones would see to it that a fully 2-D animated Groo movie was made. In the style of art used in the comics, fully, of course.

I've been waiting nearly 20 years for that now...

Looks like this is finally out, as it's in my next shipment from DCBS. Can't wait to dig into it.

Finally got my Howard the Duck Omnibus!

Going through the latest Marvel Previews.....
1) Secret Wars Omnibus - 384 pages for $99.99 (and for some reason the geniuses at Marvel did not include Secret Wars II in this book.... if it was an oversized hardcover then fine, but to call it an Omnibus & price it accordingly boggles the mind)
2) Civil War Oversized Hardcover - 512 pages for $39.99

No secret where my money is going....

Oh and by the way (because it gets lost in the Previews book) Witchblade Compendium Vol.2 (issues 51-100) is being solicited in hardcover format for $100.

Wasn't a big fan of Secret War, and I already have the old issues. Civil War oversized would be cool though, mostly for McNiven's great art.

Any suggestions on the upcoming Daredevil by Bendis Omnibus? Was that a good run of issues? Worth getting?

The main reason why Omnibuses are such no-brainers to me is that, quality aside, they seem to not only increase in value rather quickly (most get double their cover price the instant they go out of print, which is almost as soon as they come out), since you can nab them for close to 50% of their cover price when they come out, so their increase in value is even more substantial than it would seem. Taken individually, the floppies contained in most of these aren't as cheap as they are in these collections, but usually worth less than the OOP collections.
