Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
They had the Death and Return of Superman Omnibus but it wasn't as big as the Marvel size IIRC. And the paper was low quality. Isn't there a Green Lantern Omnibus coming out soon? I wonder if the quality will be any better.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I read somewhere yesterday and now can't find the link, that Marvel will be releasing a Walt Simonson's Thor Omnibus that will include his entire run with the character.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
Yeah I saw that over at the Masterworks Forum.
THOR by Walter Simonson Omnibus - 1192 pages - March 16, 2011 And Also these guys - X-MEN Fall of the Mutants Omnibus (by Louise Simonson) - 824 pages - April 20, 2011 X-MEN Volume 2 Omnibus (by Gary Friedrich and Roy Thomas) - 912 pages - April 20, 2011 So along with Thor and Captain America, they are gearing up for First Class I guess . . . Love to see Claremont's Uncanny continued. Correct me if I am wrong, but this year has seemed sparse for Omnibi. Looks like we got Iron Man volume 2 and Brubaker Daredveil Vol 2 and that's it. And there are 10 solicited and waiting to come out. And now these 3. WOW. |
Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I've heard a lot about Simonson's Thor but still haven't gotten around to reading my first TPB

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
EDIT: Double Post . . .

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
At 824 pages, I don't know how it couldn't be an omnibus. There haven't been any other Marvel HCs that size that have just been oversized hardcovers....i guess this could be the first though.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
Acts of Vengeance was solicited. But these things are slow to get released as you are finding out. I would guess sometime after the first of the year. As far as binding, you should check out the Masterworks board. Those guys have a whole forum on the subject.

Okay, time for another idea: Who can tell me of someone who does a good job of binding a set of comics? I want to make my own "omni", screw the waiting. |
Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
Can't wait for the Simonson Thor (though I could do without the Sal Buscema fill-in issues - can't stand his art).
And what's with putting out the 2nd volume of the old X-Men when we've been waiting for the 2nd volume of Uncanny for years? |

CAPTAIN AMERICA OMNIBUS VOL. 1 HC GARNEY COVER Written by STAN LEE with ROY THOMAS Penciled by JACK KIRBY & JIM STERANKO with GIL KANE, GEORGE TUSKA, JOHN ROMITA, DICK AYERS & JACK SPARLING Covers by RON GARNEY & JACK KIRBY As America began preparation for the inevitable entry into World War II, a secret military project gave birth to the greatest one-man fighting force ever known: Captain America! Transformed by the Super-Soldier Serum from a 97-pound weakling into the Star-Spangled Avenger, Steve Rogers led the charge to liberate the world from the Axis Powers’ grasp. Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
Looking foward to the Cap omni. February looks to be expensive for me.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I sorta wanted to read Shadowland. Don't know if I want the Premiere HCs though.
|
Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I think they should have collected Shadowland and the concurrent Daredevil issues in the same book. Reading them separately in different collected editions seems like a pain.

Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
Just got my JMS Thor Omni. The endpapers are stark white. Usually these things are marbled and very nice looking. The Squadron Supreme had the normal marbled look endpapers.

Dying to get this. Even if the entire saga wasn't that stunning overall, the concept alone makes this worth picking up, for me. Now, I'm off to pick up the issues that aren't included in this volume.... |
Re: Marvel Omnibuses you'd like to see
I don't even remember the Superhuman Registration Act during Acts of Vengeance, but looked it up:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Registr...gistration_Act In his testimony and in evidence he presents to Congress, Reed Richards argues that a Super-human registration Act is unnecessary as Super-humans have been largely effective and trustworthy in their actions and government regulation would only stifle their ability to protect the world. He argues that those individuals who were likely to act irresponsibly with their powers are also likely to be supervillains and thus would not be candidates for registration anyway. |
