Ooooh, this sounds like a very, very bad idea for me if I actually want to continue buying comics. Knowing I spent $100 last month is one thing, but knowing that I've spent $500 this year is something else.

Of course, now that I think about it, I'm game...

Does he buy all 20, or read them at his shop? But yeah, that man must have like 5 rooms of comics at home.

I didn't think he ran one anymore. I thought he was just a big comics enthusiast these days.

I won't be doing this because I just don't want to know, lest I realize how much I spend and then have to cut back for my financial sanity.

Nope, he buys them all now. I've got to take pictures of my needs-to-be-read piles so you guys could get a good laugh. But I do actually unload a lot of stuff on ebay.

Yeah, wow, I didn't think I posted about that. But yeah, I've worked in a comic book store since I was a kid, when it was about to go out of business a friend's father bought it, then they moved but kept it, & me & my friend ran it for years. I recently moved, & now I am just a civilian. You have no idea how much I miss the store, & yeah I read a lot there, believe it or not, I cut back a LOT on the stuff I buy nowadays.

I think it worked.

Getting back to the topic of this thread, yeah, ummmm, I'm sorry guys but this just ain't going to happen with me. The guys at my store never even give me receipts, b/c I can't have any physical monetary evidence of how much I actually spend each week, for fear of the girlfriend murdering me (or worse, wanting me to actually spend money on her). Plus if I actually were too keep track & add it all up, I would cry & then begin to question my entire life. I try to post each week what I pick up, so you guys can see about what I spend each week. For what it's worth I dropped $92 at the store today.

Yeah, well, I seem to remember something you said to the effect of "since I no longer run a store" or something similar. It was months ago. Thats how my memory works.

I don't have a breakdown for the first three months of the year, but according to Quicken, I've spent $472 on things I consider Entertainment: Comics. This includes monthlies, graphic novels, statues and toys.

Yeah, I don't even want to go into the first three months as I am sure this will be bad enough without them. In those months I know I had a few big ticket items such as The Frank Miller Daredevil Omnibus, The Complete Invincible Library Volume 1 and about 5 or 6 additional hardcovers, plus my monthlies. kicking that to the curb, I'll start with this month thus far (today's pick up):

April
Monthlies: 13(wk1) 13(wk2)16(wk3) = 42
Trades: 2 (wk1) 1(wk2)0(wk3) = 3
Hardcovers: 1 (wk1) 0 (wk2)0(wk3) = 1
Total: $66.81 (wk1) $51.10 (wk2) $46.15 (wk3) = $164.06

I think I'm going to regret this:

April

Monthlies: 99.64
Statues: 64.94

Total: $164.58

May

Monthlies: 95.19
Trades: 11.41

Total: $106.60

I just hit the 1 year mark at DCBS and me and a friend racked up $1,600 from April 06-April 07. And he only gets 2-3 trades a month, so thats enough to make me go cry somewhere.

250 comics at a total price of $568.79 gives me an average price of $2.27 each. Considering one of those was a $50 HC I really don't see why so many people are complaining about the price of comics.

Looks like I'm the only one who did this. Maybe if we get the 2008 spending tab sticky more people will keep up with it.

I don't think I could possibly keep up with my comic spending. Well, not yet anyway. I do plan on really cutting back.

I averaged about $10 a week on floppies, add to that about 5 graphic novels and Omnibus/Absolute collections averaging about $30 apiece and I guess I spent a little over $700 for comics in 2007 - the books were worth every penny, the floppies not so much...

Back when I lived at home before I moved back in I would drop close to $200 on comics a month - This was back when Ultimate Spider-Man 1 came out.

lately, I've been trying to get into a comic store, but the only thing I seem to read is Wizard when I get it at work - It keeps me semi informed.

I find it funny how Marvel has seemed to drop to second place with readers these days.
