Oooh, I'm Buying That: April 2007 Previews
It's my favorite time of month again. Even though no one else should really care what I'm buying, it's time for me to go through this month's Previews catalog and see what I'll be ordering...
Catwoman #68
I'll have to admit that I haven't read the last 4 issues, but I'm still buying for the covers. I'll get around to reading the issues soon...maybe.
Countdown 47-44
I didn't know Benes was doing the covers for this series. Too bad DC isn't showing them because I'm always interested in what Benes does. I have no interest in the storyline, but if the covers are cool, I'll get a few of 'em.

Clubbing
Here's a book I'm picking up despite the cover. I love Josh Howard's work, and this Minx line of books seems interesting. I think I'll be giving each title a shot and pick the ones I like to continue reading. Clubbing looks as promising as the others...
True Story, Swear to God Vol. 1
Tom Beland rules! I'm assuming this is an Image reprint of the original series that tells how Beland met the woman of his dreams. I can't wait to get it since this is the only one I failed to get when it originally came out.
Rose Hip Zero Vol. 3
I've been trying out some manga from time to time, and this is a title I'm reading. Well, buying. I should probably read some before I buy another volume, but whatever.
Postcards: True Stories that Never Happened
I'd be buying this book even if I wasn't in it, and even if I didn't help edit the thing. It's a fantastic book, and I hope you all give is a shot. Sure, the stories are about as far away from super hero stories as you can get, but they're well done. If you like short stories, pick it up. Oh, and be warned that this is actually a hardcover with a price of $21.95...somehow Previews got it all wrong.

Hulk: Planet Hulk HC
I have some seriously high expectations on this one, so you all better hope it's good. If not, heads will roll. I'm kidding of course, but I do hope it's as good as you all say it is.
X-Men 200
I love Bachalo's covers. I'll get this one. I know everyone hates Ramos, but I like him, too, so maybe I'll get his cover as well.
New Avengers 31
The most important last page of any Marvel comic this year? I'll bite, but I bet this issue does, too.
Mighty Avengers 4
Cho.
X-Men: Endangered Species
I'm interested in this despite my misgivings for anything Marvel has hyped so much. This might be a game time decision, but it looks interesting enough. Of course, it's probably just the intro to some huge, Marvel Universe-wide crossover event, but....actually, that sounds terrible. Screw this.
Small month, even by my standards. That must mean I'm more into other things then comics these days. Or maybe it's because I don't have time to read 'em anymore. Regardless, I'm excited about the ones I do plan to order.

Ugh. Just read the solicitation for 52 collection 2 (I glossed over the solicitation for collection 1 a month or so ago). So they're still putting in more content ("commentary on each issue by creators and editors, conceptual drawings, sketch material, thumbnails, and more!") for a cheaper price (about 1.54 an issue as opposed to 2.50 cover price). Remind me why I bother to collect anything monthly (or in this case weekly) any more? I guess they're not including the bonus origin stories, but who knows if that'll make it into a future volume.
Makes me want to wait for Countdown, which I didn't realize until just now is a 2.99 book. 155.48 before discounts and taxes for the year. Ouch.

Well, my order's due tomorrow, and unless I change my mind at the last minute, I'm off the DC Countdown bandwagon and opting into the trade-only route. When they first announced 52, they said it wouldn't be collected for some time, and that and the novelty of it made me want to collect it weekly. Now I see that I could have and probably should have just waited. I'm interested in the title too, but this is not one that I feel the need to support monthly or it's going to go away prematurely.
I think I'm also getting off the monthly all star superman bandwagon... love the title, but they're collecting it in HC really quickly, so what's the point?
With Justice finishing up this month, I only have JLA, JSA, Supergirl and the Legion, Teen Titans, and Wonder Woman left as monthly titles. While a bunch of DC titles are not collected, all of these seem to be, and I'm contemplating dropping all of them for the trades.
New tpbs I'm ordering include:
Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters TP
Stormwatch PHD vol. 1 TP (though the complaints about the downfall of the wildstorm relaunch have me worried)
Killraven Premiere HC (love Alan Davis)
Ultimate Fantastic Four Vol 3 HC
Hulk: Planet Hulk HC
Ultimates 2 vol 2 Grand Theft America
Annihilation Book 1 HC (I'll try it out because of all the raves it seems to get here... I'd get all three volumes, but vol. 2 isn't listed)

The thing that caught my eye in the new Preivews was the Lumbergh figure from Office Space. Seeing it reminded me that I forgot to order the Milton figure from last month's issue, so I need to ask my LCBS if they can still get one for me.
