"Dark Knight Returns" question...
I've read this Frank Miller masterpiece several times in the last 20 years or so, and (since I'm not a regular Batman reader) the only real question I have is...who are those two damned floating bomb-kids with potty mouths? And how do they figure in to the Batman mythos?

I can't remember it, but if this thing never becomes a movie, it would be a crime. I would have no problem if they made it a movie and edited Superman out too. IMO the only weak part of DKR was that they needed to bring in Supes.

They are clones of the original Robin, Dick Grayson, that Batman commissioned after Dick left to become Nightwing and join the Titans. The little bastards escaped and they have been featured on occasion in the books. Miller took some dramatic license with them however and many fans of the "Dickies" were very upset.
Seriously, I have no clue...

I think they're just doll-like weapons that the Joker uses in that particular story.
They haven't, to my knowledge, appeared anywhere else. (Granted, I'm not the world's biggest Batman reader.)
