Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Secret Wars 2 Omnibus is now available at talesofwonder.com for $62.00! Considering that this volume is OOP everywhere else and over 1000 pages, I think it's a great price.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Borders has a 50% off coupon available right now, http://www.bordersmedia.com/coup/20110520sa50.html, and I used it for the new Walt Simonson Thor Omnibus, getting it down to $60.85 with free shipping since I am a Borders Reward member.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Thanks for the tip on the Borders coupon. We have a Borders and a Borders Express across the street from each other, so I'm about to do some impulse comic shopping.

If you are ordering online, there is a coupon for buy one get one paperbacks too (BOGO) and you can stack the two.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Thanks, guys! I got the Matt Fraction/Salvador Larroca Invincible Iron Man hardcover at my local Borders B&M store, and picked up two Sandman TPBs online, stacking the 50% and BOGO codes.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Glad you got both. There's another 50% off coupon tonight and BOGO is still active. Also, I noticed if you add a used item here and are at the free shipping threshold, shipping stays free. Amazon would be dangerous for me if they did that.

The 40% off Borders coupon for this weekend can be found here:

http://www.bordersmedia.com/coup/201...id=SA_20110529

I picked up the first Invincible hardcover based off of praise in this forum.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Those Borders coupons never work for me on items I want. They're very specific to certain items, it's always hard to tell just what they'll work on.

30% off all used books at GoHastings.com with JINGLEBELLS coupon (free shipping promo on used books has been running for some time). Their prices on used TPBs can be insanely low (if you take the time to look). I just managed to grab 25 TPBs for ~ $56 shipped. That's crazy!

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Just ran across a lot of random bargain-priced stuff at Amazon. The search is flawed because it turns up a lot of non-bargain stuff, but there is stuff to be found at around 60% off. A couple FF Masterworks, Dark Horse omnibi, Rip Kirby, Harvey Comics Treasury, etc. YMMV of course.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I was looking at The Outfit as well but I still haven't read the first Cooke/Parker.

Picked up Rip Kirby 1, Giant Size Little Lulu 1, and Boba Fett Omnibus for now. Not bad for $40. Saved another couple in my shopping cart, but two of those said only one left in stock so I figured I should jump now.

This is a new nick&dent/overrun/clearance site run by Tales of Wonder that I recently bought some stuff from. All came in great condition and the prices were extremely good and better than most used prices at ebay/amazon.

What was the shipping like? It won't show up until you register it looks like.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

It's a flat $4.99 no matter how much you buy.

Shipping Policy:

BGN offers an all-you-can-eat shipping policy. For domestic orders, shipping is a flat $4.99 whether you order one book or a thousand!
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to ship orders outside of the United States.

Found a few more Star Wars Omnibus: Tales of the Jedi 2, X-Wing Squadron 2 and 3--I just wish I were sure I didn't have these (I might have vol 1 of both).

Those are some nice prices. I almost started snapping up the Star Trek Key stuff before remembering I have one of those software collections. I prefer reading in book form, but maybe I shouldn't double-dip.

Tales of Wonder would run a reliable site, yes?

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I should think we'd be due for another 70-80% off sale at TFAW.

It's been about a year since the last one.

What's the scope of that sale? Scratch-n-dent stuff like cheapgraphicnovels.com? I saw some of the same titles on Tales of Wonder but not all of them.

The last 70% off sale at TFAW had most of the in-print Dark Horse graphic novels at 70% off, and a few from other publishers, too. I seem to recall that most of the Hellboy and BPRD TPBs were 70% off; I filled in the holes in my Hellboy bookshelf with that one.

The scratch-and-dent books were 70% off of the regular S&D prices, I seem to recall. I didn't order any, but I remember them being a dollar or two cheaper than their non S&D counterparts.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

I found Horrifyingly Mad at Barnes and Nobel for $9.98. This is a hardcover book that was in the last chance section as you go in the front doors. The funny thing is that it was that it had a September 2011 publication date. Also, I searched Amazon and could not find it.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Amazon just got restocked on the "Life and Times" of Uncle Scrooge, volume 1 by Don Rosa. A month ago this was showing out of print, and I had an order canceled. Sellers were asking over $100 for this title. Current price is around $16.00
