When I was still buying a handful of monthly books few years ago, the LCS I went to was one I picked because they stocked pretty much everything I wanted, whereas the others didn't, and I didn't want to make more than one stop. So I started a pull list, only to find that half the time they got it wrong, and two of the three guys who worked there never bothered to remember even my first name. When I quit wasting my money on monthly books, it became a moot point, but it didn't surprise me when they went out of business a couple years ago.

So i go back today to use the 50% off HC - "from HC shelf" coupon. I remember they have Supreme Power Vol 2, and I can use that to convert my trades. Going to check out, I hand the guy the book, and the coupon, and he says "Did this really come off the hardcover shelf?" Jesus.

Reason #124 to shop and cultivate a good relationship with the LCS:
So today we have the big event in Captain America #25, and I don't normally get the title, but I was intrigued. I typically stop in after work, but I knew my chances of picking up a copy of this issue would be nil unless I stopped by at lunch time. So I arrive at the LCS, and see the "sold out" placard for Captain America on the shelf. So I still missed the boat for this issue. After the store thins out a little bit (after observing the manager telling callers that he was out of this particular issue to many callers, and walk-ins at the store), he clandestinely offers a copy to me for being a long-time patron of the store, and I flipped through it, liked the art/story enough to buy it on the spot. So, I lucked out this time, but it did help to have a weekly allegiance to a store when shortages of unannounced event issues arise.

So a few months ago, 1 of the LCS's weekly coupons was Buy 1 toy, get 1 half off. It happened to fall on the same day as the release of the 52 toys. The coupon made no mention of 'excluding new releases'. Well according to them, it was suppose to, but it wasn't printed. So after going back and forth, they finally caved, but were rather pissed about it.
But look what we have this week:
Assholes
However today, I went into a another LCS, that I hadn't been to in a while. As soon as I walk in, I see 2 copies of Amazing Spider-man #1, Fantastic Four #1, Wonder Woman #1 (1st series), and Captain America #100. It was incredible to see such books together in a store. They were nice to hold, but out of my price range, but I did get a Detective Comics #105

Holy crap on the key issues. I never saw a comic shop with that kind of selection in North Carolina when I was there. What shop was that?
In NC, I got a good discount at Dragonfire comics in Fayetteville for my pull list. I currently get my stuff pulled in IA City...no discount, but they do keep 'em coming for a looooong time, which is nice, being in Iraq. Last time I bought my pull list items, it cost me $1,450 so I like the comfort of knowing I'm not missing my shit.
I wish I could get some discount, though.
