I'm at 73 issues. With twice a month shipping and the bags and boards, I am looking at $147.65 . Would be at least $187-$200 at my LCS for the same stuff, so I am pretty happy.

I sound like a broken record, but I can't help but give Birds of Prey all the props in the world. It's one of the few team books on the shelves whose characters actually feel like a family. Everytime I read a new issue I feel all warm inside and shit.

I wasn't crazy about the conclusion to the Batman "Face to Face" storyline, but the ride was awesome. I really wish they would leave Robinson on one of the titles as he really knocked it out of the park, but then you can't complain when you're getting Morrison and Dini in his place (sorry Robo ).

And just because - Captain America is a fucking pimp! If you asked me 3 years ago if Cap would be one of my favorite characters I would have laughed in your face. Now if there were only some way to get Brubaker to write Nightwing...

I agree and I love this title. Even with this weird Shiva angle they all seem to be tight. However, if I'm loving it then chances are it'll get cancelled soon.

Not sure what this means. I'm not loyal to any writers or artists. As you guys can tell I'm probably the easiest comic fan to please. Especially compared to most people here.

So how many people read Brave New World? I couldn't believe how terrible it was. I was interested in what all of those titles would be like, but every story completely turned me off. It was also weird to see a couple Marvel type things pop up: registration act, watchers, and MM looks like a skrull now.

I heard bad things about it, but I didn't pick it up. I'm only really interested in Atom (which comes out next week) and the Shazam stuff. A lot of people hate Winnick, but his Batman and eXiles stuff was really good to me, so I have high hopes.

I probably should have got it to see for myself, but I'm really cautious about adding new titles from the big two to my reading list. I'm much more prone to try new stuff from the smaller press companies than from Marvel or DC. So a book has to have some buzz(BoP, She-Hulk, Runaways, JSA), otherwise I stick to the books with characters I care about.

If that book is about bringing new readers into new books, wouldn't it have been a good idea to put that preview online as well? I know it's only a dollar, but putting it up for free might have resulted in a couple thousand extra orders on those books from folks who get comics online.

Even though I bought them in June, can I talk about last week's comics that I read yesterday?

I'd say it was a complete waste of money if I hadn't only paid $.50 or so for it. The last couple pages were a bit of a headscratcher though, I'm not sure what that'll mean.

Laying the groundwork for the next big blockbuster before the dust settles? I think it needs to be a long time before any more DC "Crisis-related" crossovers.

In terms of Brave New World, I liked the Atom story and will be picking up the regular series. I also liked the Freedom Fighters story more than I expected to, and will probably pick up the inevitable TPB if the buzz on it is any good.

Just a heads-up, I'm in the middle of sorting out my photos from Heroes Con (which took place this past weekend), and will put up a link once I'm done with the webpages. I think I took way too many photos, but hope y'all get something out of them.

Okay, here's the link to my Heroes Con 2006 photos. I didn't get a chance to put names to the faces of the guests (comic-related professionals) yet, so that will hopefully get done tomorrow night.

Been a while since I posted here (or even checked in on this forum). I moved to the left coast, had an internship which took up all my time, & now I'm back on the east. But I've made sure to get my comics every week. The problem is I'm just sooooooo far behind on so much stuff. Even up to almost 2 years behind on some titles.

Some random thoughts Brubaker is still my favorite (current) writer, nobody will every take the place of Alan Moore as my "all-time" favorite writer, although I'm not looking foward to Brubaker's X-run that much, I just have no interest in the X-books anymore. Bendis is still the worste writer in comics IMO, although nobody still seems to agree with me. I also have zero interest in Civil War, haven't read it at all, didn't read House of M either. Crisis wasn't that great IMO, but "52" fuckin' rules, Crisis was worth it just to get to 52. No comic coming up has me more psyched than the new creative teams on the 2 main Bat-books.

Here is what I picked up today, haven't read much, but here are some thoughts on the series. Yeah, I got my books today, but my store, as all of them, can't put them out until tomorrow.

52 WEEK #9

ALL NEW ATOM #1 - Actually some pretty solid art from Byrne as much as I hate to say it. Could be a fun series but this falls into the inevitable category of DC books that probably won't last too long.

BPRD UNIVERSAL MACHINE #4 - Unfortunately almost nobody reads the BPRD books, despite the Hellboy movie. It's a shame.

CONAN & THE SONGS OF THE DEAD #1 - Can never have enough Conan.

DARK HORSE TWENTY YEARS - For 25 cents there should be no excuse why every comic book fan doesn't pick this up.

DETECTIVE COMICS #821

DEVI #1 - I know this is an all Marvel & DC crowd here, but I'm a big indie guy. Figure I'll give the first issues of this new publisher a try.

FRANKLIN RICHARDS SON OF A GENIUS SUPER SUMMER SPECIAL - I always dig these books.

GOON #18 Still BY FAR the single greatest comic being published today.

INCREDIBLE HULK #96 - I've been diggin' the hell out of this Planet Hulk story. I miss the big long epic story in Marvel, its good to see one again, especially after how shitty the overrated Jones run was on this book.

INVINCIBLE #33

INVINCIBLE VOL 2 ULTIMATE COLL HC - Gotta have the hardcovers of the greatest superhero comic being published.

JONAH HEX #9 - Haven't been too into the new series so far, but I've always been a huge Jonah fan so I can't give up on it.

JSA #87 - I am so pissed they are relunching this. I hate pointless relaunches, this was a top selling book already, & has been the single most consistanly great team book since it's first issue.

MANIFEST ETERNITY #2 - First issue was good enough to get me to check out a few more issues, but unless it blows me away, I will probably drop it just b/c the series will never last through its first year.

MARVEL TEAM-UP #22 - What an awesome series.

PIGTALE #4 - Some amazing art on this books

SIN CITY HARD GOODBYE HC RETAILER THANK YOU EDITION - Hah Hah Hah, its good to be a retailer.

SKYE RUNNER #3 - Always been a Garza fan, I hope this book, lasts b/c its pretty good so far.

SUPERGIRL #7 - Haven't even read an issue of the series yet.

TEEN TITANS #37 - Wayyyyy behind on this book.

UNCANNY X-MEN #475 - Not diggin't the art, hopefully Bru can work his magic.

WOMEN OF THE DC UNIVERSE HAWKGIRL BUST - I've been getting them all.

Finally added as many names I could recall on the guest page for my Heroes Con 2006 photo album. It really is a good comic-oriented convention.

Anyone here read Rex Mundi? I'm thinking of buying the new (old) Dark Horse trade collection of issues 0-5.

I read the first 6 or so issues and got confused and bored (but loved the art). The lateness of the book didn't help matters. I'm sure it would be easier to follow in trade format.

Finally went to the comic shop and caught up on a lot of missed weeks.

I grabbed this "Beyond" #1 today just to see how they'd screw up the Secret Wars rehash. Ummmm... I've been collecting again for about a year now, so I'm a little out of the loop on some things that happened while I was away... like what happened to Eddie Brock, and why is Mac Gargan now wearing the symbiote and calling himself Venom?

Welcome back Sessa. I'm one of those people who always means to read Hellboy, but just never got around to it. I know I like the art already, so now it's just a matter of picking the book up. But of course I want to start at the beginning, or somewhere close to it.

I've been following the trades and am really enjoying it. Plotwise, it draws on many of the same sources as The DaVinci Code, but it's set in the early 20th century in a world where the Protestant Reformation never occurred.
