I gave in and bought the other comics that go with Omac, and I was still kinda dissapointed. I think they missed an opportunity by showing Batman actually trying to fight off Clark, and realizing he was screwed. This would have been more emotional, and just a better idea I think.

I'm also following House of M and it's pretty good so far. Actually so far I think it's much better than Infinite Crisis.

Hmmm, well that's too bad. Like I've said before, I'm glad I can still read comics and enjoy them. Many of you guys seem to be in a constant "State of letdown".

What's up with Supes looking all apalled when Diana killed Max? Wasn't he trying to kill her. Granted he thought she was Doomsday, but he still wanted to end a life.

Won't happen, at least not on a permanent basis. Maybe for 3 or 4 issues, then we'll find out that it didn't happen at all. The "big" characters that are movie marketing material will never change, at least not permanently.

One of the big goals of a comic book movie, at least as far as the comic book company behind it is concerned, is to bring in new readers to the comic book. Marvel screwed up with the first X-Men movie, and new readers were confused when they went to get the book and found that over half the characters in the movie weren't in the comic.

So now you can guarantee that any franchise character will always be the same, at least as long as they're a franchise character. And the one you mentioned? Easily the top franchise character of that company. You'd think it was , but they're actually more protective of when it comes to changes, guest shots in other books, etc.

I thought it was the other way around. That the way Warner Bros. looks at the DC universe is that it's in a niche market, but is a great source of ideas to branch out to other mediums and for licensing.

I've very rarely seen movies make a lasting impact on comic readership. And in the case of X-men, it was more like they changed the core characters around to become more like the movies (at least the costumes). No matter what they say, I have to believe they changed the roster of Teen Titans at least partially to conform with the cartoon (though they since have gotten rid of Starfire, whose cartoon persona is very, very different from her comic book incarnation)

Okay, I was reading through the Excalibur "House of M prelude" collection today. I had preordered it to get a glimpse of what House of M was going to be about.

First of all, it's Excalibur 11-14 for 12 bucks. I hate these small collections.

Second of all, who the heck are all these people? Why are Magneto and Xavier living in a house somewhere? Why does Calypso have tentacles? Why is Angel still dating Husk? When did Claremont establish that Angel has superhuman strength "because he has to use his muscles to launch into flight anyway?" Is that Dark Beast? Why is this book called "Excalibur" at all?

Great "prelude." I also see that they list all the "House of M" collections in the inside cover. Is this even done yet?

Huh? I wasn't reading X-men at the time, but I know that Jean Grey was part of the team at the time. Maybe that was when Cyclops was "dead", but I'd assume the other characters were on the team. I think the biggest problem was they had Claremont back on the books at the time and he's just a bad writer now.

Well, it isn't a direct one-way relationship, but comics/cartoons/movies DO affect each other.

Batman's appearance post-NML was modified to resemble his Batman/Superman Cartoon costume. In case you were wondering why Batman's been written really, really, really, really, REALLY bitter lately, it's because of the influence of Batman Beyond.

Superman in the Cartoon is an amalgamation of multiple incarnations of Superman, but it has most in common with the John Byrne reboot. The cartoon vision of Krypton was later incorporated into Birthright. Metallo's appearance in Superman/Batman also resembles his comic counterpart.

Don't forget made-for-tv characters like firestar and harley quinn becoming comic characters.

I'm surprised about the Batman Beyond influence. Movies are often so different from the source comics that making them more similar won't necessarily make it easier for someone to transition from one medium to another. For example, Rogue and Iceman aren't teenagers, and they don't have a romantic link between them. So am I going to be more confused by that, or by the rosters and costumes being a little different?
