I have totally dropped the ball on collecting these (as in, I have none). Is that Zooba thing still going pretty good? And is it a certain that they'll finish the whole thing?

Zooba has been good for me. I've been checking the site every other day to see if they are getting the new one. I'll post here as soon as it shows up.

One option would be to just quit Zooba and rejoin when they have a few more things you want in stock.

I just joined BOMC, 6 books for $17, which includes shipping, only 1 more to buy to fufill commitment. I can get a cheap book for less than $10 with shipping, so a great deal IMHO.

I got the first 4 Complete Peanuts.

I haven't read the 'Sunday funnies' seriously in years, because they generally just aren't that funny, but I'm browsing one of the Peanuts books using Amazon's 'Search Inside' feature. Some of those strips really are funny. I didn't want to start getting them because A. I haven't finished The Far Side or Calvin and Hobbes yet, and B. I didn't want to start collecting them, they seemed expensive--but yes, 10 bucks each, or 1.00 each through QPB, is quite reasonable, even considering the commitment, which is one of the easiest commitments of all clubs. Amazon's pricing is weird--they have one for 11.58, but the others are 18-20, with the boxed sets being ~31.

So it is indeed Diana Krall in the new volume penning the intro. The next book will have Linus on the cover.

This recent volume has some really funny stuff in but I can't wait for the next volume which has Sally vs the school and the intro of a few new characters.

I think the best way to get the first 4 (without any further commitment) is to join the history book club (historybookclub.com)--4 books for $4 + s\h=$15.71, plus, since there's no commitment, you can cancel as soon as you receive the books.

That historybookclub.com deal sounds like a winner for me, but how easy is it to cancel? It looks simple enough, but I hate having to jump through hoops to get out of these kinds of deals, even if it would save me a grip.

I've joined once and had absolutely no problem cancelling. I don't get how the book club make any money off this deal.

I've been picking up the box sets at the end of each year, but I have a pet peeve about them. They never include two first editions. The newer volume is always a first, but the older one is a second edition. So I end up having to exchange the older volume for a first edition, which is usually still available but hard to find.

I guess in future years, I'll think ahead and buy the standalone volume early in the year, then buy the box set when it comes out later in the year, immediately trading out the volume I don't need for something else. But what a pain for the collector!

I got the first 4 and two other omnibus books from QPB, with no further commitment. One thing though, those slipcovers/dust jackets really show wear easily--my volume 1 is scratched all up [the book itself is fine]. I'm wondering if it's worth sending it back and exchanging it. I think the first two I looked at are first printings, but I'm not totally sure how to tell.

And I've joined and quit QPB and SFBC multiple times. I think they're all arms of the same organization. In fact, the two omnibus books I got say "SFBC 50th Anniversary" on them.

I haven't picked up the last two volumes yet and QPC, SFBC & Zooba are only listing '57-'58. Do any of these places have the newest volumes once you join or is this it? Anyplace else have them cheap?

Amazon has 1963-1964 & 1965-1966 listed for a May release. They only have artwork for the first:

Yep, they are definitely not available for new enrollments at any of the usual book clubs.

Can any members verify if they are there?

Seems like Amazon is the cheapest from what I've seen, although I haven't checked out any other sites for prices, and I'm just into getting the box sets of them.
