How do you know if you have a first edition of a Marvel comic book?
Okay, I've auctioned off Ultimate X-Men.
After 7 days of it being on auction, and just before I went to work, someone e-mailed me and asked if they were first editions.
So, I looked. And nowhere can I find if the comics are first, second, third , whatever, editions.
Where abouts in the comic book does it tell you if it's a first edition?
The auction ended with a bid that was way higher than I imagined.
I did not state in the auction that the comics were first editions.
I DO NOT, however, screw the buyer over.
So, can someone explain to me how I can tell what editions I have of Ultimate X-Men 1 to 12?
On the first page inside of Ultimate X-Men 1 it states "Ultimate X-Men vol 1 no 1 Febuary 2001"
That's all I could find.
Does this mean it's a first edition?
Can ya help a poor old boy who knows his ass from his elbow but nothing else?
Your help would be appreciated.

At the very bottom of one of the first few pages (usually the page that has the title of the story and the info on who made the issue) there will be a lot of small print. If you have something other than a first printing, it'll say so either at the beginning or end of all that text.

I would be willing to bet they are thinking that maybe you picked up the Ultimate X-Men #1 reprint that came out on Free Comic Book Day this year. That would be an example of a reprint (but it had "Free Comic Book Day" on the cover).

Unless your comic in big bold letters says "FREE COMIC BOOK DAY" on the cover. Then you have the "first printing" of the book. Marvel does not do second printing of comics anymore. So there are no second printings of any Ultimate X-men books.

Didn't they do some other editions, like DF stuff, or some other stuff like that?
I just looked into buying that very same comic, and found tons of variations of it.
