Fanboys, what is Garth Ennis doin'...

...besides not entertaining. i basically gave up on the whole comic book scene, preacher bein' about the only exception...then it got cancelled. i know he wrote punisher for a time, always thought is was a lame character, ennis made him a little less lame... and he's doin' the whole "just a pilgrim" thing, original, fairly interesting, neither make you laugh out loud the way preacher would...any on-going series planned for him and dillon? or him and anybody, for that matter?

Since he left Punisher, nothing I'm aware of other than Just a Pilgrim (pet favorite right now -- I won the contest in Issue 1). He did do a couple miniseries -- adventures of the Rifle Brigade (hilarious) and War Stories -- pretty dark humour. Nothing else I can think of.

It wasn't cancelled, Ennis ended it. Glad he did, cause during the end, the story got repetitive and somewhat boring for my taste.

There's some kind of project that he's doing with -- I believe it's Steve Dillon -- that's been hinted around at for some time now. I don't really know anything else about it.

It's not an ongoing series, but Ennis' "The Pro" (through Image) should be coming out this summer. A one-shot story about a super-powered prostitute...

No, I'm not joking

Is there going to be a sequel to Dicks(published by Caliber), one of my all time favourite series that Ennis has done. Rarely do I laugh out loud when reading, but Dicks was so hilarious that I couldn't help myself.

Ennis also did Unknown Soldier for Vertigo a few years back, if you haven't read it you may be able to pick it up at a good price in eBay. He also did Pride & Joy but I can't comment on it since I haven't read it.

Garth also did Hitman for DC. I think it ended just after Preacher though I could be wrong. I'm out of the comics loop now so I really have no clue what series are still going or being planned. Good stuff but not nearly as profound as some of his Preacher story arcs. Of course, there was his great run in Hellblazer, both prior to Preacher with Steve Dillon and Glenn Fabry (his co-artists through the entire Preacher run) and afterward with a 6 part story. There's also a terrific one-shot called Heartland which relates to some of the Hellblazer characters.

This is the trade collecting the original comics that came out I believe 4 or 5 years ago.

The next new work Ennis has lined up will be coming out in late July called "The Pro" with art by Amanda Conner. It is about a prostitute with super-powers.

Hitman was a really great series, but rather than dive in 1/2 way through, I just started picking up the TPB's lately. Unfortunately at the rate they're currently going, they'll never release the entire series this way. Too bad really, great stuff.
