I inhaled all 4 books this past week and was wondering if anyone had any comparable suggestions.

Wish I did. I read the first and while it started great with a ton of promise, not of it felt really compelling (let alone resolved) by novel's end.

If nothing else, it reminded me more of the Altered Carbon novels. TOTALLY different tone and environment entirely but not without similar concepts exploring consciousness and identity.

I did the audio books and loved it.

Just started Expeditionary Force. I'm on book 2. Really liking it so far. Has some similarities to We Are Bob imo. There are 14 in this series so far. (#14 due in June)

If you're doing audio books, both series are Audible exclusives afaik.

I also went audio books on the Bob, productivity at work suffered. Although book 4 was a little less compelling, felt a bit too much like Speaker Of The Dead.

Took me a few hours until I didn’t hate the narrator but now I am in. Reminds me of The video game Masters Of Orion a bit. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah, he uses a strong accent, and I'm from/on the East coast.
I listened to the 1st book on 1x speed. Then book 2 I switch between 1.25x & 1.5x depending on what I'm doing. That really takes out the accent some.

OK, I have listened to this whole series. I guess I'll have to wait until Dec for the next one. Anyone else have and good hard Sci-Fi recs?

Well I guess this recent Expeditionary Force is supposedly the last one, it was... ok.

In the meantime I also listened to these:
Children Of Time Series
Old Man's War Series
Murderbot Series
& Project Hail Mary

And they all scratch that Sci-fi itch, some more than others. Running trope being spider aliens.

Just saw there's another Expeditionary Force coming in Dec 2023 - Aftermath.
