Game of Thrones fans!

Who is excited for this book to be released?

George RR Martin has reassured fans that he is still working on his long-anticipated book The Winds Of Winter – part of the hugely popular Game Of Thrones series.

The US writer said the world of Westeros, where the books are set, is his "number one priority" and would remain so "until the story is told."

I first read A Game of Thrones in 1996 when I purchased it not knowing it would be a seven-book series and instantly loved it. When I purchased it then there was no way I would have envisioned that roughly 26 years later I would be still waiting for the series to finish. I have bought every book when they first came out so I have waiting for over 10 years for the next book to come out since I purchased A Dance with Dragons. I am hoping it does get released but right now I have my doubts it will be this year.

I've joined the people saying we'll never see it. If he came out and admitted that he's given up finishing it the cash from all these side projects would dry up.

As long as he stays in Book Talk, I say 'go ahead and post it'.

Yeah, I think that at this point in time, A Song of Ice and Fire is basically his The Last Dangerous Visions. He's going to be claiming he's still working on The Winds of Winter until his death is announced in the press.

He should probably just hand it off to another writer to finish. Brandon Sanderson? Kevin J. Anderson?
