What Are You Reading? (October 2018)

Re: What Are You Reading? (October 2018)
Stephen King's It.
My third attempt, but I'm going to finish it this time. First attempt was in grade school. I checked out a large print version from the city library, but I was in over my head. That massive tome seemed heavier than a cinder block. Second attempt was during high school. It was the miniseries tie-in paperback, but the print was so small it gave me eye strain. The copy I'm currently reading is the movie tie-in paperback, which is around 1200 pages and three inches thick. Took me a week to read the first part (about 10% of the book). My goal is to finish it by Thanksgiving.

Finished a few hours ago. I've watched the movies multiple times but only read the books once through. Going to try to read one a month

I recall rushing through this one years ago. Going to dedicate the next two weeks to this beast

Finished Steinbeck's "East of Eden" a few days ago. What a wonderful, absorbing epic!

I agree. Fun reads, but not as good as the Parker books. Really, anything by Donald Westlake is worth reading.

I am re-reading Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley.
I read it back when i was a teenager and back then it didn't feel the book's characters are too over the top but now it's just feel like that.

In October I like to read horror books. First up:

Good read, but not very scary.
Next was:

But THIS I absolutely loved. Spooky and has interesting conceit: it's kind of like a "found footage" novel in that you're reading the title character's unpublished manuscript, along with interviews, news clips, emails, texts, etc. I burned through it in a matter of days. It's the best book I've read in a while. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Almost done with the Passage.

Its funny, I read it years ago and completely forgot the first half of the book. Was talking with my wife and she mentioned we both had read it before and then the book began to click as familiar while things begin to go awry at 'the station'. I dont think the third book was out when we read this so I am curious to see how much I recall of book two...
