Powells Books
Has anyone recently sold any books to Powells? I am switching over my collection to digital and I sent them three boxes of books which were delivered. After a week I sent an email asking about the status of the trade in since the website does not tell you a thing about anything other than orders. I didn't get a reply. I sent another email 3 days later and still no reply. Am I going to get screwed here?

I haven't ever sold them anything, but I've shopped there, and they're a old and well-established business. I would expect that they have a lot of inventory coming in because of their reputation, and based on what I know of their store, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have the most efficient system to track it. I don't think you need to worry about being shafted.

Ron, I've sold books to Powells by mail twice. Let's just say my first sale prepared me to be extremely patient for the 2nd one. It can take them 2-3 weeks from the time USPS Delivery Confirmation shows attempted delivery before Powells finally completes the order & you get paid.
So, yeah, just be patient. You're much better off selling your books to Powells than Amazon.
If it's of any reassurance, Guillermo Del Toro once stated that Powells is his favorite bookstore (at least in the US).
