Kindle Matchbook
Amazon has unveiled a new service: Kindle Matchbook. It's similar to AutoRip, although not quite as convenient. If you buy a print book that is eligible for Matchbook, Amazon will offer you the Kindle version for $2.99 or less (all the way down to free). This applies to past purchases as well, although out of the many books I've purchased over the years from Amazon, only 8 were eligible (and out of those 8 I only bothered to grab The Hellbound Heart).
Still, not a bad way to get a digital backup of books if you really want them. And if they ever show up as free, then groovy!

Re: Kindle Matchbook
Yeah, it's a cool program. I enrolled all of my Print Edition Books that are also out as Kindle Editions in the program. I am offering most of my Kindle Editions for free if you buy the print edition.
I also checked all of the books which I have bought print editions of in the past and was disappointed that none of them are even available as Kindle Editions - guess that I've been reading everything on my Kindle for too long. And, before I had my Kindle Reader I bought mostly used books. Oh well!

Re: Kindle Matchbook
Yeah, gave that a try but there was nothing I was tempted to buy again... and no freebies.
There is also a service with a similar name that mashes up existing kindle books with audiobooks. I did buy one there... The Prince of Tides. The performance really impressed me.

Out of the many books I've bought from Amazon lately, only three qualified and none of those were free.

Yeah, I've bought, probably over 200 books from Amazon and I only had four show up on Matchbook, and they were all $2.99.
Seems like kind of a shit program...

Re: Kindle Matchbook
Now that this feature is no longer on the front page it has disappeared.
Under "manage your kindle" - Nope
Under Kindle books - Nope
Search Matchbook/Kindle Matchbook - Nope
Hell of a job Amazon...
