I read Mutahhari's "Man and Universe" and now reading Dr. Ali Shariati's "Religion vs Religion".

A solid thriller. A bit of a comedown after zombies in book 1 and an army of genetically engineered monsters in book 2 to have Joe Ledger and company tackling ... terrorists who blow up buildings. I liked how the main character (Ledger) is more realistically portrayed than in the earlier books. Though there are a few eye-rolling moments typical of the genre, like an impossibly perfect new female lead (young, super-beautiful, a brilliant doctor, multiple Ph.D.s and Masters in every topic known to man, a best selling author, a crack gun fighter ... but oh so nice and humble ... I know it's par for the course for the genre but these "fantasy" characters completely take me out of the story). And I'm not sure if Maberry was being funny or not having one of the guys in the terrorist group be
Spoiler:
Osama bin Laden
.

The most interesting part of the book was a side-plot involving a (maybe?) demonically possessed prisoner, that had me thinking this would go into the horror territory of the first two books. But it never did ... though if this character was a teaser for the next book, my interest is piqued.

One odd thing ... in one of the dumbest editorial blunders I've ever seen, the surprise identity of one of the "mystery" terrorists was accidentally blown early in the book (the character is normally referred to as "The American" except his real name is just slipped in at a random moment ... completely defusing the reveal later on, which otherwise would've been most of the book's most effective moments). Checking other reviews, this mistake is an all editions of the book.
