Curious to hear how this is. I read the first one and didn't particularly care for it (despite the generally positive reaction).

Interesting. Is it non-fiction or a fictional story? How was it?

Finally started reading this. The pending CBS series this summer gave me the needed motivation. ;)

Detroit City Is The Place To Be is non-fiction. It was a good read. Mark Binelli, the author, grew up in Detroit but hasn't lived there since after college (early 90s). In 2011 he went back to live in Detroit for a year and write about the experience and the overall decline of Detroit. If you have any interest in the decline of a once great city, you will probably enjoy reading this book.

[QUOTE=Coral;11618052]Finished:
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...SH20_OU01_.jpg I love this. Have you read REVOLUTIONARY ROAD, also? I first heard of THE EASTER PARADE when the character Leigh (Barbara Hershey) in HANNAH AND HER SISTERS thanks the Michael Caine character for recommending it to her and says "It had a very special meaning for me." Years later, when I read it and discovered it had a sister-oriented story with some parallels, I saw that it was a real connection/influence (from Yates to Allen) and not just a throwaway reference.... |

I heard about the reference in Hannah - which is one of the reasons I decided to read it. |
