Now on STARTER FOR TEN by David Nicholls. Apparently known as A QUESTION OF ATTRACTION in the US.

Since its the show's 50th anniversary this year I thought I'd read a novel each month featuring a different Doctor. Mostly ones I've read before that I know are good. This one's purely historical and is about the Gunpowder Plot.

I really need to get around to reading Pynchon's Inherent Vice. Paul Thomas Anderson will be directing Joaquin Phoenix in the film version due out next year.

Been poking at Planet of the Apes at home here and there.

That's one of the reasons I'm reading it.

I'm almost halfway through it and I have to say that it's been a bit of a struggle so far. It's not terrible, but it's only "ok". The writing style makes it more difficult to read.

At this point I have to believe the film will be better than the book.

Re: What are you reading? (January 2013)

Well I bailed on "Inherent Vice". I often found myself re-reading paragraphs/pages to figure out what was going on. I'll wait for the PTA film - I'm sure it'll be MUCH better than the book.

Re: What are you reading? (January 2013)

Finished Ubik by Philip K. Dick and The Secret Race by Tyler Hamilton and Daniel Coyle. Both were excellent.

I read The Secret Race because of Hiro11's recommendation. Thanks, Hiro!

Now back to Why Evolution is True. I had to read the library books first.

I'm glad you liked it! It's a great book, isn't it?

I'm reading the "Lonesome Dove" series by McMurtry, I just started "Streets of Laredo". These are awesome books.
