The Black Company, worth finishing?
I'm currently half way into Dreams of Steel, Book 5 (or 6 if you count Silver Spike). I'm really starting to loose interest and am thinking of moving on, either to Songs of Ice and Fire or maybe The Names of the Wind.
I'm wondering if the book gets better soon, or not. So far it's all Lady playing politics and setting up camps. And how about the rest of the series? I miss Croaker and what's left of the rest of the black company, but mostly I miss the action and magic.
PS. I'm listening on audio book and it doesn't help that they replaced the excellent reader Marc Vietor with a very poor female reader.

Really loved the original trilogy and Silver Spike. The books of the south started losing me and I just couldn't get into the rest. I tried picking them up again recently to see if my opinion had changed, but I still could not finish.

I have most of the books, but haven't started reading them yet. It is one of the series that I picked up used at the thrift store and have never gotten around to reading them, but they are in my to read pile.

Well, I finished Dreams of Steel. This book was just bad, at least compared to the rest of the series. It felt incomplete. The ending is among the worst I've ever read, it just kind of stopped and then there was a epilogue that felt tacked on and hollow. I'll probably give the next book a chance, not so much because I'm drawn into the story but because it is set up to get back on track, potentially.
EDIT: after reading some reviews of the next book, I'm not so sure. Many say it's the worst of the series. I think I'll give it a break and check out some other stuff I have in the queue.

I skipped Bleak seasons and she is darkness. Croaker does come back and once he does it gets better. But the books where he is missing are the weakest of the series.
