"Harvest Home" by Thomas Tryon - the inspiration behind "Children of the Corn"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvest_Home_(novel)

Harvest Home is the name of a 1973 novel by Thomas Tryon, and it tells of the strange paegan rituals in a small Connecticut town.

While reading the premise, I couldn't help being reminded of the short story by Shirley Jackson called The Lottery.

I ordered this book through Amazon, and look forward to reading this. From the reviews I've read off Amazon, people found this to be a great book!

Has anyone here read it?

I've never read, but am indeed curious. Assuming this book is OOP, any idea? Amazon prices are pretty steep for used copies.

I find the opposite to be true, as I find a lot of used books very cheaply from Amazon. Anyway, this one can be found for around five dollars (plus shipping).

At second glance, I see the cheaper used pb's now -- thanks.

I've read it, and it's a pretty good horror novel, though it does come off a bit dated and misogynistic at times. A very good example of the 1970s horror renaissance (King, Straub, Campbell, etc.).

If anything, I'd compare it to movie "The Wicker Man."
