Yeah, they were. On average, I think that are between 190-200 pages each, except for the last one which is a little longer. Also, there are pages with no dialogue, just fight scenes, etc. But I did enjoy the whole series, and would recommend them.

Good to know. I'll knock them out for 6 easy reads .

Definitely. I got a loan off of them from a friend, so I didn't want to take them too longer either. I also have the author's first comic, "Lost At Sea", so I'll read that as well in the next few days, after I finish Catching Fire. Most people don't seem to like it as much as SP, but since it is short (same length as SP), I'll check it out.

I am about 2/3s through The Vikings and it is a great read. It makes you realize just how much influence they had on European development. They traveled through Russia to the Islamic empire, down the west coast of Africa, into the Mediterranean to North Africa, Italy and Spain. They colonized the Faroe's, Orkney's and the Shetland's and on to Iceland and Greenland. They settled in the British Isles and France. It also talks about the warming period that free'd up the ice in Iceland and Greenland and enabled them to grow crops. Some nice photos too.

Can you comment more on Mockingjay and its trilogy? I just saw a mention of it somewhere else and thought it looked interesting. It's a YA series right? But interesting enough to adults?

tks

It's definitely aimed for the young adult audience, but I enjoyed the first couple of books and know of many other adults that enjoyed them as well (they also got positive reviews from Stephen King and Stephenie Meyer). Without giving too much away, basically it is part Battle Royale (the action) and part Twilight (the romantic subplot). The first two books were quick interesting reads so even if you didn't like it, you wouldn't have lost much time.

Re: What are you reading? (August 2010)

Stopping Faithful Place for now (even though it grabbed me in the first chapter) to start the last of the Hunger Games trilogy:
