I wonder if Salem's Lot 2 is far behind?

That was left wide-open for a sequel, wasn't it?

King originally wanted to write a sequel to Salem's Lot but said several years ago that "too much time had passed."

I don't know if a Salem's Lot sequel would work

Spoiler:

since Father Callahan's story was sort of finished in the Dark Tower books...

Spoiler:
He always said he would write a sequel about Father Callahan, and when the last DT books came out, King said something along the lines of they fulfilled his desire to do a Salem's sequel. So, I wouldn't expect one.

Re: Stephen King working on sequel to The Shining

It would be fun if someone like P.T. Anderson would make a cinematic sequel to Kubrick's Shining, having nothing to do with King's sequel.

Unless he writes a sequel to The Stand, I won't be buying any more of his books. He lost me after he ruined the Dark Tower.

Anyone who loved Kubrick's movie needs to see this. This guy was posting shots of his home theater construction, but he also showed us what he did with his bathroom:

Ruined it? It's his story he can tell it however he wants, it ended the way it was supposed to end. You just didn't like it. Which is fine.

Stephen King Announces The Shining Sequel: Dr. Sleep
9/26/2011 4:54 PM

Back in 2009, Stephen King mentioned that he was considering writing a sequel to The Shining, but now it is official. The title of the novel is Dr. Sleep and it involves “a traveling group of Vampires called The Tribe”.

During his appearance at George Mason University last weekend, Stephen King read a chapter from the book and we’ve include a video of it below. The story is said to feature Danny Torrence as an adult and a group of vampires called “The Tribe” that feed on psychic energy. There are no more official details at this time, but we’ll provide an update as soon as more information is released.

Hmm. Doesn't really bother me. It's not like King's never written about vampires before?

It says they're psychic energy stealing vampires ala The Library Police, Dandelo, IT, not the blood sucking kind.

This is what I was hoping for, when I kept seeing this topic popping up on other sites. Vampire has such a dirty feel, after all of the movies over the past decade.

Re: Stephen King working on sequel to The Shining

I don't have high hopes. Let's be honest, there's a point when a book (or film) becomes such a cultural milestone that you could NEVER create something that people would find to be on the same level. The Shining is one of those books.

It's Black House all over again.
