Anybody here on goodreads ? (good site to find new stuff to read)

I just found out about this site, it's probably really old but new to me. I mostly just like having someplace to keep track of what I read. Anyone here use it?

I just signed up, my account name is Glenj, hit me up with a friend request if you are a member there, I'm always looking for new stuff to read.

nice find! I just signed up as well. Creepy thing about that site ; I was taking the test of what books to rate and Stephen Kings The Shinning popped up. That's the next book I plan on reading.

I use, and love, goodreads. More than using it to find new stuff to read though, I use it to keep track of what I read.

I keep my circle really tiny, but I added you since you're the man with the good taste in comics. My SN is johnnybvo.

I joined, but I don't see an easy way to import the books that I've read. I tried to add them via the wish list at Amazon.com, but most of them didn't add properly.

I haven't found a good way either. I've been manually doing it when I remember to.

Re: Anybody here on goodreads ? (good site to find new stuff to read)

I've added all of my books I've read this year, along with starred ratings. I wish that you could give half stars, but I guess it's not a big deal. When I look at other lists and I see other things that I've read in the past, I'll probably add them as well, but since I never kept a list before, there will be a lot that I'll probably never add.

If you want to add me as a friend:

Sessa17 & lattethunder, I've added both of you guys as friends. When I get a chance I'll have to go through your books to see what you guys are interested in.

Don't be sorry, I forgot all about this thread.

I've been updating my Goodreads account a lot more since I got my Kindle. I really love the format of that site. I saw that you & I have pretty drastically different tastes, but maybe we can check out something new.

That might be a good thing, since at least I'll get some exposure to genres or material I would otherwise skip!

I'm pretty good about keeping goodreads updated, although I don't normally write reviews unless there's some specific notes I want to remember about the book. It's very handy to refer to, in order to see what I've already read.

I'm waiting to see what Apple ends up releasing (if anything) for a tablet / e-reader, but I'll probably end up with a Kindle as well. It'd be great if they had some integration with goodreads -- eg. being able to mark a book as read and give it a star rating directly from the Kindle, and being updated over the 3G connection. Would help me to not forget to update!

There is a similar site called Shelfari. I'm not sure which one is better (features, number of members, etc.).

I don't know what that is like, but the Goodreads set-up is excellent. Just really well organized and they have everything.

Re: Anybody here on goodreads ? (good site to find new stuff to read)

That is actually a website I have missed in my bookmarks. Some months ago I started a manual list on Rate your music for the last books I read. But goodreads seems of course much more comfortable. Thanks, Sessa!

I'm on there as well - as xmiyux of course.

I keep my profile updated. It makes it handy to add books to a "library" shelf and then when i hit the local library i just log into a computer and see what books i want to read. Makes it easy to check things out without needing to sync anything or carry a physical list.

Just starting using it a couple of months ago:

I'm still trying to enter in stuff I've already read, as well as my voluminous "to read" list.

They just came out with a goodreads iphone app, its free. I like it a lot b/c when I'm out in a store now & I see a book I want to read I can just add it to my goodreads list.
