Re: What are you reading? (July 2009)

Very short book that was free for download for a while.

I might try the following, since I have a bunch of them kicking around from my wife's sister:

Anyone read this series? If so, how is it? What about those "In Death" series? My sister in law has all of them I think, so I figured that I might try one or two out.

The Conquering Sword of Conan (Conan Volume 3)- R.E. Howard

Sadly, I'm almost done with the original Conan stories. I've been thinking about trying KULL next. Has anyone read the Kull stories?

Kull and Conan are largely interchangeable -- in fact, Howard created Conan by rewriting a Kull story that wouldn't sell.

I'd also recommend the Solomon Kane and Bran Mak Morn stories. If you're really feeling adventurous, try the Bear Creek stories, humorous Westerns in the vein of McLintock! and the big brawl in The Searchers. Librivox has a free audiobook that's really good.

Just started this, heard good things, I've been looking for a good series to quench my GRRM thirst

Gave up on "A is for Alibi" because it was a slow moving, long, boring mess.
