What are you reading? (June 2009)

Wow, quick lock on the May thread. Anyway, just finished The Last Coyote from Michael Connelly, and now I'll probably split my time between the following two books:

Just finished Elmore Leonard's "Road Dogs". I've been buying him in hardcover for 30 years or so and Dutch hasn't lost a step. Highly recommended.

Re: What are you reading? (June 2009)

Quickly finished a very overrated book IMO given all the hype, hope it will make a better movie.

Now I'm about half way through the fantastic. . .

Re: What are you reading? (June 2009)

By virtue of a clean finish, I'm going to begin a new book to inaugurate the month of June. I'm rather excited to crack open...

I Am Not a Cop! - A Novel by Richard Belzer with Michael Black

Edit: I started I Am Not a Cop! around 11 last night, and finished around 4:40 this morning. Very fun, with enough of the mystery based upon the kind of real world conspiracy theories one would expect from The Belz.

Next up...

Inspired by Lateralus's high praise (and my own fascination with its subject, which stretches back to my childhood):

Re: What are you reading? (June 2009)

I'm reading Denis Leary's Why We Suck. It's pretty good, so far, but I think if you're not a fan of his stand up or the "ranting" style in general, it should be skipped. Basically, the only thing that the book has been about is how when HE was growing up, people didn't coddle their kids the way they do now, and HE is better for it, so parents shouldn't coddle their kids. He actually sounds like an angry old man so far, but funny.

How was that? My wife has looked at that at Barnes & Noble a couple of times. She thought it would be fun, but between her work and school schedule she just can't bring herself to take a risk on a book that might waste her scarce free time.
