Need a novel/novella recommendation for a 14 hour flight next week. Something short and sweet. Preferably sci-fi and/or horror. Something along the lines of "I Am Legend" would be perfect, but more contemporary. I've already read the "classics" by Heinlen, Clarke, Bear, Asimov, etc. so somethig more recent would be appreciated.

A friend of mine recommended "World War Z" by Max Brooks. Any good?

Matheson also wrote "Hell House" and "What Dreams May Come", the former of which I would guess from the Amazon pages is the scarier of the pair.

I just got done with a really good book called Contagion by Scott Sigler. Kind of a mixture of Stephen King and Crichton.



Ooops....Contagion is the sequel, should have also recommended Infected.
