Duane Swierczynski's THE BLONDE
I discovered this guy's books in another thread here, and I thought I'd devote a whole thread to him. This is one of the most exciting crime writers I've come across in a while. His latest book is The Blonde, out in hardcover now, and his previous, The Wheelman, is now out in trade paper.
He's got a first novel out there somewhere called Secret Dead Men, but I haven't been able to find it.
Check out Swierczynski's blog, Secret Dead Blog.
Anyone else a fan?

The Wheel Man is my favorite of the three. Very good book. The Blonde is similar, but I didn't enjoy the plot quite as much. (It's still good, though.) Secret Dead Men is a fun and quirk cross-genre book, but it's definitely not as polished as the other two.
Overall, I think Duane is a damn fine writer and someone who'll be working in the crime genre for a long time to come.

Jason, did you ever find out if his first book was in paperback or hardcover? I don't see much on abe.com in hardcover, and most of those are print on demand UK versions.

Secret Dead Men was published by Point Blank Press (a POD publisher) and I believe it came out as a simultaneous hardcover and trade paperback. You can order the TPB from Amazon for $16.

I just read a blurb at Swierczynski's blog indicating that the upcoming paperback edition of The Blonde will have a novella called Redhead included, which is a sequel.

Wow, what a ride The Blonde is! This is definitely one of those books that's nearly impossible to put down, and I often found myself laughing out loud. Great, fun read.

I got the first 50 pages of Severance a while back -- printed on pink slip (paper), ha ha -- but decided not to read it. Who wants to read only part of a book? That's a damn tease!
I've heard the book is good, though. Looking forward to it.

Here's a close-up of the Blonde trade-paperback cover. Looks great.

I really enjoyed The Blonde and am looking forward to reading Severance Package which I believe comes out this Tuesday. Anybody else picking it up?
