Just finished:
This was a pretty good book. My wife had read it and recommended it to me. It hit pretty close to home as the subject matter was teenage suicide, and I knew more than one person who was suicidal when I was in high school.

Now reading "Survivor" by Chuck Palahniuk. Read Cell (Stephen King), Hannibal Rising (Thomas Harris), and Jimmy Buffet's newest (the name is escaping me). I've been on a book reading tear lately! I tried to start Lisey's Story (King) but could not get into it at all.

I finished reading Dan Simmons' "The Terror" a few days ago, and have found myself unable to stop thinking about it.
It's the first book of his that I've read. While I don't have the qualifications then to say if I think Simmons has written his masterpiece, at the very least it's an outstanding piece of work.
I loved the living hell out of it.
It's meticulously researched, beautifully written, and Simmons puts us right there. In a word, craftsmanship. And it exudes from every page.
As a plus, reading about men braving -50 degrees (and colder) temps helped get me through the recent East Coast cold snap.
Now it's on to "Lucky at Cards" by Lawrence Block
