Which should I start with?

I just picked up four books from Borders and can't decide which one to start with. I'll leave it up to you knowledgeable folks. That is, if anybody bothers to vote!

I voted The Road, but only because I am going to start reading it once I finish Dangerous Visions.

The Road. It's a book like none other that I've read.

I too voted "The Road". Because a) I loved it and b) haven't read any of the others on your list.

I voted for The Sportswriter. I loved The Road, but I also have a copy of Ford's Sportswriter sitting around that I plan to read very soon. I hear great things about it, as well as the following Bascombe novels.

Plus, I'm a huge sports fan.

What a great selection of books! Even though I didn't vote for it, Carver might be worth dipping into while reading the other books, since reading all the stories in one go might lead to depression and alcoholism.

I might do that, thanks cornyt! Although come to think of it, I must already be a depressed alcoholic - why else would I post a poll in Book Talk!

I voted Road. One of the best books I've ever read (and I was a lit. major in college) AND it's a very quick read. You'll be tackling the next book on your list in no time.

Never heard of any of them, but i just reserved The Road from my library. There's a review on Amazon by Dennis Lehane, who is my author-of-the-moment, so that's a good omen.

Thanks for all the votes. I found this weeks TV Guide to be both entertaining and stimulating. I can only hope The Road is just as good a read.
