Library Thing

I think it looks like a pretty neat site where you can catalogue your books.

You get up to 200 books free and then after that you have to pay for it, but I thought the prices were quite fair and I got a lifetime membership.

Anyone else use this site? I'd love to hear what you think about it?

Re: Library Thing

I use it (same username as here). In fact, looking at my join date (June 2006), I must've discovered that site through this thread! My book purchases have dropped off in the last few years (especially since getting an e-reader), so I've only been logging on every few months to update things. I haven't been putting e-books I've obtained into librarything (though I've been using Caliber to keep them organized). I haven't really used any of the other features of the site.

There's probably a smart phone app now that does the same thing, while making it easier by incorporating the scanner. But I haven't really delved into that yet. Though the one nice thing about librarything is that, being web based, you can let anyone in the world browse your collection (like dvdaf). With the drawback being if the site disappears (and websites are known for disappearing at any moment without warning) everything is lost.
