I was big on the Madeleine L'Engle books, the Lloyd Alexander books, and The Little Vampire series by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg. Before that it was mostly non-fiction (I would pick a topic, like reptiles, and read every book in that section, then move onto the next topic). After that is was Stephen King and Clive Barker, and no turning back. Although I would like to reread The Prydain Chronicles one of these days.

I forgot about James Howe! Good stuff. I also read Encyclopedia Brown. And I think I read every one of the Oz books. I'm still tempted to track those down...
