I finished this last night and was very happy with it. I did not know what to expect from this book, but finished it with a smile.

Glad to hear you liked it, too, Geoff. I think it's a special book.

Next up for me is Joe Hill's book (Steve's son).

can you explain what was good about it? The type of storytelling - what is it more reminiscent of? Is it like Rose Madder, or more like Dolores Claiborne?

just finished it. Very enjoyable read. Did anyone else catch all the "virgin Suicides" refrences?

there are five sisters in the book- The same amount of sisters in suicides.

Lisbon is mentioned: The girls last names in suicides was Lisbon.

And Amanda is a cutter-One of the girls in Suicides was a cutter too.

Out of those two ROSE MADDER. It's been while since I have read RM but I can say that Lisey's Story has a lot in common with that book.

Sorry to bump an old thread.

I too put off reading this because it just didn't sound very good.

Boy was I wrong. I loved it. Just a great read. I've read just about everything King has ever written and this compares favorably. Top 10 for sure.

I really liked the excerpt that was published, I believe, at the end of Cell.

Bought it when it first came out, and still have yet to finish it. And I've read everything else he's published, including a lot of uncollected and unpublished stories.

I've gotten as far as just getting past the memory of the ground dedication incident.

The pages just seem really long and eventually the sentences start blurring together. blah.

But, then I picked up Blaze and whipped right through it, as well as a couple of his short stories published after Lisey's Story.

I don't know what it is. I just can't identify or care about the main character. She just keeps moping around and I could give two shits about her...

My cousin read it, and said that it picks up right where I left off and he loved it, and I'm going to try reading it again, but it just keeps boring me...
