Recommended reading? [Preference for "fast-paced" books]

hey, im lookin for some good books to possibly get into, i was reading comics for many years, but with the additions to the family and work schedule, its just too much too keep up on. i have purchased and read Harlan Cobens "Gone for Good" which i liked.

what are some other fairly fast paced books that you can get right into and start enjoying?

A while ago eXcentris recommended the Henning Mankell - Crime novels and cited them as being "page turners". I cannot say whether they'd meet the "fast-paced" criterion but I'd imagine that you can get into them quickly.

(I'm now considering starting my dad off on the series this Yule!)
